Set some eggs just now, due date 20th July.... anyone else setting just now? Hatch-Along

Awww I'm sorry to hear that but I guess these kinds of things happen with broodies and probably for a very good reason. I really hope one of mine turns out to be broody, maybe even 2. I rather have broodies than lack of sleep - even if it means less chicks.

You're able to come and go as you please and just check every once in awhile, I really don't have a life during incubation and ESPECIALLY during lockdown~!I just want to set it and forget it LOL

Thanx for the support, yes Broodies it is for me! And I was agonizing what to do with the eggs (they seemed warm and alive to me, didnt want to toss them....) so I put them in a box filled with straw next to our Dryer to keep warm.... and the dang dogs got them! So it was decided for me. I didnt want them to suffer and I am sure it was quick those darn dogs.....

This is egg 4, found it pipped this morning. Does it look strange to anyone else? It almost seems like the outer membrane is trying to dry up. He's still in there kicking around and chirping.

THe membrane does look alittle leathery, as long as its not attached to the chick he should get out, we had a shrink wrapped chick last month (we culled it as half the shell was off but the membrane was mostly intact, but there was a crack with some bloody scab formed around it, I didnt think to duct tape it)....
No incubator experience, but I hear you raise the humidity or moisten the membrane-- I read that while looking up shrink wrapped chicks!

My assisted hatch looked a lot like this, Sally mentions this in the assisted hatch article read it again & see if its something you want to do again. What's your humidity at now?

400

I would keep it moist, & let it try zipping on its own, read that article again to make sure. If you decide to assist go much slower since this one seems very strong

Chick 4 is here. Pretty much, it hasn't disconnected it's butt from the shell yet. It was turned on the wrong end. The air cell was on the side of the egg!

If you have a teacup or a small container set it in there. Until its ready to push itself out
