Setting 3doz eggs tomorrow 8/11!!! Hatching buddies???

Jfulcher--sometimes the chicks show up early, usually all hatched by day 21. So be ready to post some pictures on Monday!

The time really flew by this time--by Wednesday I should have a few chicks, and wait another week for a few turkeys, and another week more turkeys. ANd Monday, I'm planning to go get eggs to set IF the roads are passable. God willing.

not sure for how long.

fgf18, I love to candle so very interesting as many don't match the pics. Keeps me wondering whats going on inside. The first time I incubated I didn't toss any. THis is my second time and I've tossed a lot. A clear is a clear. AND lots of blood rings this time. I held them too long before settingdue to circumstances beyond my control.

Have fun candling!

Moved my coturnix eggs to lockdown, and my hygrometer thermometer fell and bashed open one of my eggs

I just did a quick candling of my eggs, Day 15. There were a lot of clears, one bloodring, and one that was black inside.

I just threw out 11 eggs. I walked outside and cracked them open, terrified of seeing a little live embryo, but all were nothing. Whew.
This leaves 13 eggs. 1 is extremely active, 4 others look developed, and the remaining 9 I just wasn't sure enough to toss, but I don't believe they are good. I will re-evaluate them before lockdown on Wednesday.
Hope everyone else is having great success with their eggs!!

what!!!!! I just woke up this morning to this... they were only meant to go into lockdown today after work...abd not due till Wed/Thurs? I freaked when I saw it, couldn't believe my eyes...but everything is good and I already have anothe rone pipped!! I quickly took them all out of the turner and placed them back in...the bator is awesome and help temp. and humidity back to wher it was meant to be in no time so I am confident that I didn't harm any by taking them out...

Do you guys think it was because of the hot weather that they started developing even before I recieved them in the mail? Oh well at least she was perfectly ready to come out and is doing great! She is a splash ameraucana...
