Setting 3doz eggs tomorrow 8/11!!! Hatching buddies???

I have had awesome results from shipped eggs...total newbie here also...this is my third time hatching ever...

1st hatch 9/12

2nd hatch 12/12

3rd hatch 13/14 so far!

I bought myself a new Hova bator genesis 1588... It is so awesome and idiot proof...I don't have to do anything to it...just refill the middle water tray every third or fourth day...then on lockdown fill the middle two trays! Bam! Easy!

Oh and my 2nd and 3rd group of eggs came from 'Rockinpaints' on here in Ohio. Perfectly shipped and packed and VERY fertile and hardy eggs....I have beautiful BCM and ameraucanas from her already...

I may have to get some BCM from "Rockinpaints", I tryed to hatch two different batches of FBCM from a BYC'er and didn't get one out of the 20++.

day 14

Post Note.....I have a mixed pullet in the hen hospital ( unused extra shower stall) because of a bum leg.

The waiting is killing me . . . .My homemade incubator is holding so rock steady I almost forget to check on it. The poor eggs have only been turned 2x a day the last two days! Today i made sure I turned them a little more often!

I noticed the little sponge goes dry much faster; the moisture in the air is much drier recently, so unlike the humid days earlier.

All in the details! Good thing I'm detail oriented! And obsessive . . .

My incubator spiked overnight. I'd had the windows open and the weather was a bit cooler, since the temps on my incubator had been in the low 99 range, I turned it up just a tad. And then I woke to almost 103 temps this morning! I turned it down a tad this morning and opened the lid for a minute just to release some of the heat quickly. Had it back about 99.5 when I left, but who knows what the temps will do today while I'm at work. Darn LG. Wish I'd never have touched it. Now I have to get it stabilized again with eggs in it. GRRRRRR! These shipped eggs weren't doing the best to start with after being handled roughly. I'm on Day 10 and this is exhausting! These eggs are gonna make me go gray.
11 days seems so far away.... I want chickens!!!

xxxgeorgiexxx --- I have one lt sussex, my boys call Mrs Whitey-Tighty and then go into gales of laughter! ( I clued them in: they are calling her white under wear!) Boy humor.

Shayna--- that's EXACTLY how I felt using my LG the first time! I was neurotic and up til 1 am most nights, sometimes later!!! It was worth it! Got 14/24 to hatch. I spiked mine to 108 for abouit 3 hours !!! Good luck!

I'm glad to hear you had a successful hatch. Now I'm at the point where I keep wanting to candle them, but I know it can't be good for them to be handled all the time, so trying to let them be. When I candled them last week, I put them in a specific order, good eggs on one side, worst looking eggs (bloodring ,etc) on the other side, with clear boring eggs in the middle. Hoping none explode, but not brave enough to discard. I really want to know if I have any other ones showing veins or if my ones developing are showing more... UGH it's so hard not to touch them now! And since I touched that darn temp knob, I'm probably not going to sleep at night anymore. I'd wake up in the middle of the night and check on them at first until I was sure I had it stabilized. I wasn't this neurotic at first, but it's starting to get me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
