From that pic you posted of your roo, I'd say the dog likes the taste. I'm sure that could be better than store bought dog food, but depending on how long you raise them could also be much more expensive. Are you looking at it as a way to save on food, or to satisfy your hatching addiction?

Gee @scflock , somehow missed this post. Yes, the dogs attacked the roo before ever tasting chicken. They didn't wound him, I think they just wanted to prove to him he wasn't as big a cock as he thought he was...;-]

My thoughts are focused around satisfying my hatching addiction to get 100 layers of the project breed, not to save on food or make more money. As of now, hatched birds have added only 32 to my laying flock...I had hoped it would be a lot more.

See I disagree with you about getting a new young dog. We got an 8 week old puppy and worked with her and the chickens. We'll come to find out when she was 8 months old.....she was digging underneath the coops, dragging a chicken out and chasing it around until she caught and killed it. Then she just left it there. It sucks. So we found her a new home.

I'm told there are no guarantees with dogs or husbands...

Very little drinking tomorrow, I have to be up at 6:00am on Saturday for a 1 hour drive at 7:00am. Unless you want to drive...I can't leave till I blow under so I need an extra hour to eat and digest. But Saturday afternoon I will be back by 4:30pm...
