I love taking pictures of my chickens! I cull heavy to improve type in my Wyandttes, but I usually keep them until they are four or five months old.

I have 4 out of 4 Wyandotte chicks this morning and the only shipped Partridge Wyandotte egg to make it to lockdown hasn't hatched. I will give it another day but I have a feeling it won't hatch

I have two blue and two splash chicks and will post pictures when they fluff up

We have 13 chicks still - the baby with a hernia is doing ok...

Great pictures and congrats to everyone on their hatches!!

Here's my status. Only 5 of my 24 eggs showed development, so the 5 were placed in lockdown. I could only detect movement in 1. Today is day 22 and the one that showed movement has zipped halfway. My husband checked on them at 5:30 and didn't notice anything, but at 8:30 when we looked back in, it had pipped and zipped half way around the shell. It's now been almost 3.5 hours and we've seen no additional progress. I'm hoping this is normal. I have a feeling this is the only baby I will get, so I really hope it goes ok.

Here is a picture of what it has looked like for the last 3 1/2 hours.

Hi All

John, I love your idea! I'm in! Lately though, I've had a lot of problems saving my uploaded pics. I'm able to post one at a time (usually), the rest show up as black and white images stating "image not available". I checked the admin thread and it seems there are others experiencing the same problem, and BYC is working on a solution. Meanwhile, I'm going to *try* to post a pic of my little ones

These are auto sex chicks - I have an assortment of both pullets and cockerals, I just have to research which is which

If they stop for that long then they are stuck. If the membrane is turning brown then it has shrink wrapped. You will probably need to help it out. Good luck!

I started to get a bad feeling about it, so I started running a hot shower, and picked open the egg. I knew right away it wasn't going to be good. The egg was very hard and dry. It was hard to get into and there was no movement. I picked open the egg to find a fully developed baby with his head under his wing.

It's quite heartbreaking to incubate them for weeks to have this turnout. I don't think any of the other 4 eggs will hatch either. I'll try again sometime. I really wish I knew where I went wrong, the humidity never dropped below 65% during lockdown....

I'm so sorry!

Too low of humidity during incubation causes the white of the egg to become sticky and when the chick starts to zip and the air hits it, it hardens. Don't give up

You will get the hang of it
