I have some that are going into lockdown on Thursday as well. I don't remember the how many eggs.

My bator can hold about 130 eggs at a time so I just keep add to it, when I have extras that I don't sell.

This is only my second hatch. The first one was good. Six did not hatch. Three eggs were bad.

This is a calmer hatch for me. Incubator is holding temps nicely. Humidity is staying pretty even...hygrometer is a reptie one. The fancy one has never worked and would not calibrate. I am not a nervous nellie this time but still very excited. Sold 20 of the previous hatch and have 15 left....my DH can't figure out how I have that many left! Could it be the five ameracuanas I bought at the feed store? He just thinks I can't count. He is out of town working and he was the one who said 'load it up' on this setting. Plus, I have a broody hen that I finally got moved to the mini coop and run that has two eggs. She kept switching nests and leaving her eggs so I moved her to the mini coop. Now she has no choice.

This is so much fun!

I go into lock down on Wed. Will make one last turn on Wed. morning. This is my Ameraucanas, and my Nankins! All of the Ameraucana eggs are either blue, or blue/green. I'm excited to get a black and a blue Ameraucana. Dad is a blue wheaton Ameraucana, hens are black, blue, and splash. She has the names of the hens color on each..those splash eggs are a beautiful blue.
The Nankins I am going to worry over the whole lock down time until I see a pip. They are endangered ones. I have 5 left out of 12.
I fell in love with bantams just this year..when I saw a friends cute little Japanese couple running around. I now have the cutest frizzle cochin, that truely seems to love me. I haven't given the little one any treats other than bringing in fresh food, but she will come to me and let me pet on her. Cute.
I have some ML d'Uccle's in, just a few, now the others finally made it from Michigan..5 days..P.O. made a mistake..sent it to wrong city, "missent" would have had it by Sat.!

Now I know even more so why folks that send eggs can't make any promises as to how their nice fertile eggs will be handled once they leave their hands.

Would you post the pictures of the Nankins? I would really like to see them. And don't you love, love, love a cochin? I have five from the last hatch and six more eggs on this hatch. All mine. Plus, my DGD's blue EE eggs she is so excited about. We also realized that we had an off spring hatch from the BO and her EE on the last one. The blue egg did not hatch so the other EE is not laying a blue egg but a pinkish one! Will be interesting to see it grow plus the blue eggs hatch!

Good luck....am just about to get really excited!

bburn, did you want pictures of the eggs..or when the babies hatch? They should hatch by Fri. or Sat. Keeping my fingers crossed at least..that they do..they've gotten this far!
Look them up on the net. Not as pretty as some birds, but I love the thought of keeping them going. I know that they aren't seen around here. Cute though, and sound like they have a great temperment. They are the oldest bantam known.

After they are born. I will look them up but I have seen them before and cannot remember what they looked like. I like the thought that you are trying to keep an old breed going. It's a good thing.

Will be watching for your hatch.....much luck and good thoughts your way...

Me too... LOL...

So... i don't have a way to tell the humidy in my LG. I should go to the store but could not find one the last time i was at one

will look tonight.
Mostly I have been refilling the wells in the bottom. Last week I just put water in one of the well rows. and not all of them.
so do i put water in all of the wells for lock down? of course instructions state to keep the wells full during incubation and then at the end open the 2 plugs.

there are 2 rows and a square well that water can go in. I currently have only one plug in.

any thoughts?

I don't open the plugs until I get a pip.
Go ahead and put the extra water in a well, and I would put a wet clean sponge, or, a clean wet cloth in. Make it pretty damp. I soak mine.
All incubators are different for different reasons..even those of us that have the same small bators, we have different things going on with room temps, humidity where we live..it goes on, even the bators themselves could be running different..I noticed that one of my bators needs adjusting now. We learn what our bators do after we've used them a while, and go from there. For example, for my bator that is running a bit high, I am pretty sure I will get pips soon, more of them will hatch sooner than later. Also, I myself will not go over 65 for my humidity in this bator. Just below or maybe a little over I won't worry. No going up to 70 though.
