Ok ya'll I have a few questions before the big lockdown gets here Thursday night.

I have a hygrometer. I bought the reptile one. I also have a $30 one that I did not think was calibrated but I guess it worked. They are within a few degrees of each other. Have kept the humidity....well, I have not kept it I have simply watched it....it stayed between 40 and 50 the entire time but on the lower side mostly.

Temps this time have been great. They have stayed steady at 100.5 basically and I have just left it....as opposed to trying to adjust it the entire time. I have noticed yesterday and today that the temp keeps trying to rise. Would that be because of the stage the eggs are at maybe? Just wondering. I have found it on 102 a couple of times and adjusted it just barely down. It is okay however, I think, because I have a still air with a turner and do not have the fan.

I ordered an egg o meter and have it in there as well as the thermometer that came with the LG and the one on the hygrometer. Temps are running pretty close with the LG thermometer always a little lower...barely.

I have not added water other than what I started with at the beginning. We have had rain almost daily for two weeks and ALL day and night. So, the humidity in the house has been high as well. I think that would be the reason I have not had to add any. Humidity and temps outside both higher than last hatch. Plus, I have the incubator in the big bathroom that is not being used at all because there is no one home but me for now. There does not seem to be much of a change in temps in that room. LOL...have one of my 8 thermometers in the room too!

I candled at 8 days and everyone looks good. I candled again, in the incubator and did not have to take the eggs out and that was nice at day 14. All still look good!

Lockdown for me again is Thursday night. Will take a quick look with the candler as I take them out of the turner and lay them down. I tried the paper egg carton last time and took them out before the hatch started. They were melting down from the humidity. Worried me. I have seen that some have used the styrofoam ones but I am not sure I like the idea of them. You do have to cut the hole in the bottoms however so that they get airflow as well as not hold all the moisture in.

My last hatch was without the hygrometer and I felt as long as there was a small amount of condensation in the windows that the humidity was up more than during the incubation period. I made it through with only 6 of 41 not hatching...wait not true...threw out three eggs before lockdown. So 32 is what hatched.

I just need to know...sorry too wordy...what should be the temp to strive for at lockdown? And what should the humidity be?

Why do we question ourselves????

Frizzles are fun. We had a frizzle rooster for many years. One summer he got one of those fly strips stuck to the back of him. Poor guy ran around the yard all day thinking that something was chasing him. I will have to admit it was funny.
