Setting (Again) April 16th-18th...

Snazzy, was it you that asked about the Nankins? They are the oldest known bantam alive today. They thought they were extinct, but found some on an island that I can't remember how to spell.

On the endangered list right now, but seem to be making a come back.

The guy that sold me these eggs, didn't charge me for them, just for the shipping. Will try and get some going here in Utah.
They are believed to be the breed that they got the sebrights' from.

The roo is so nice looking. I think the hen has grown on me, mostly because of the sweet look of their eyes. Small!

Think I will try and show the size in a picture tomorrow with something to compare the size.

Oooh, have seen pictures of the BLRW..very pretty. My picture at the left is a SLRW. She was beautiful.

You never know. I've had them hatch with the pip closer to the top end. Had one that got the end of the shell zipped, the had it's little body stuck trying to get out of the small hole it had made..I just made it bigger, it was fine.

Watch and see how big a zip it makes. Now, I'm talking about the pip being towards the small end of the egg..is that what yours has done? If it is just right on top, in the middle, that's fine.

Oh, SLRW! Sounds lovely!

The pip is on the correct side(big end), just much closer to the top than normal. I will keep an eye on it if it hasn't hatched by morning. The other one hatched, so hopefully it will rally the rest into action!

I came to see the pics of the baby Nankins! Am so glad you have so many pipped and have some hatched!! Woke up wondering about my eggs and had to go check them. I think I am more nervous than last time. On day 20 today.....you always feel better when you get that one early pip! But.....I have errands to run early this morning! So better if it waits until I get home.

Good thing today....and after the two weeks of rain we had I did not think I would say this! But we are expecting rain, just this morning. But that will help keep the humidity up.

Time for you to get up and check the babies and give an update!

Had one internal pip last night. Hadn't pipped yet at 3 AM, as far as I could see, but was completely out of the shell by the time I woke up at 6:45

This one is a Barred Rock/ EE mix I think. Sort of yellow with a black dot on it's head.

I'm at day 20. The Humidity has been steady at 45- 50 throughout the hatch but i managed to get it up to 55-60 for lockdown. Temp is running 98-99 but I had some trouble mid way through where it got up to 103 a couple of times and I had to keep dialing back the thermostat.

My day 20 won't start until tonight really. Do you have a fan or are you still air? I am still air and I am letting the temps stay around 100/101. My humidity up to lockdown stayed between 40-50. In lockdown it is between 60-70. So, I think I am okay.

Have you had any more hatch?
