Setting (Again) April 16th-18th...

I am telling you, you need a fan. I have a hova-bator for hatch. The first time I went into lockdown with it and hatch day was here I think I had 30 eggs in it, or 5 hatch. Next hatch I put a PC fan in it and my hatch rate was 80%-85%. You need to heat rises so the eggs won't get the proper heat. Put a fan in there and it will move the heat around.

I agree..a fan is the best way to go. It seems that I was cooking the eggs, especially with the egg turner! Heat rises.

I can hardly wait to candle tonight.

I just hatched w/o a fan and had a great hatch. However, I am curious about the eggs that did not hatch and where they actually were in the incubator. And with several thermometers in the incubator there were differences in temps in different areas.

So, I was wondering....wouldn't it make sense to rotate the eggs....although I do have a turner....

Just wondering.

With a fan it moves the air through out the bator to make it the temp the same all over. So you would not need to move the eggs. But if you don't have the fan then I would say yes it would be a good idea to move them.

That was what I was thinking. Rotate them from outside to inside...what, every day? Couple of times a day? The incubator is holding really steady on the temps and it is in a nice even temp room....

I would rotate every time that you turn them that way it should stay even.

Umm...I have a turner. But thought that if I rotated them that would make up for the uneven temps in the incubator. I know, it would be easier to buy the fan but this will be my last hatch this year.....

bburn you can buy a PC fan for a little of nothing. You could do an internet search on how to install them it is very easy.
