So...did you just raise the lid and do them one by one in the incubator? I ordered a candler and it should be in the mail today. I have to wait, I have to wait......do not candle yet. Need to wait three more days!

bbburn, what kind of candler..you probably mentioned somewhere...is it a brinsea? You will HAVE to let us know how it works. I know of someone else that ordered a candler, waiting to see how hers works. Hers is a seabring.

i have a brinsea and love it!!! last hatch i had marans and some ee eggs and was able to see well on most. there were a few that it was hard to see. those babies are adorable cynthia

Thanks snazzy...
We are having serious micro bursts..and now thunder. Power went off, then right back on..go away storms!

My DH and I went to look out our big front window. There is a pine tree that everyone in the neighborhood watches when the micro bursts come, this tree is huge, and bends almost half way down every time..one of these days...at least it it leaning away from their home.
They live just across the street.
Go away storms....maybe if I say it enough!!!

I was able to see veins in most of my blue eggs this morning but I still cant see them in any of my brown eggs. I have a 200 watt halogen light in the garage, I am thinking of putting it in a box with a hole in it to see if that works better than the flashlight I have been using.

I got my $5 ebay stethoscope the other day, but I can't hear a thing yet. I'll let you guys know if I ever do.

Yeah I actualy took the lid off, only way to check the water level, and I have a LED minimag that is pretty bright i was able to candle them by just holding the flashlight against the eggs. Honestly I did not think I would be able to see anything but I could not resist trying and it worked very well.

whew, got through the storm without a large power outage, just that short one. I have lemon/blues hatching right now. And yep, a tree, a huge beautiful pine came down during one of the micro bursts...down the street from us. My DH is down there right now with his chain saw helping cut it up..it's partly in the road. My DS is helping with loading.
No wind now. They are saying the wind got up around 61 miles an hr. at times. It was bad! We are lucky the power didn't go off for a longer time. The grids around here must kick in pretty fast.
The only damage we got that we can tell is that we lost a pannell of our fence on the east side of out home. We are seeing a lot of shingles laying around the neighborhood.

It sounds like the fan is wired through the thermostat. I wouldn't wire it that way, but I guess it would be OK since you are not going to get any bursts of warm air, until the thermostat kicks on again. It should be better than a still air bator anyway.
