Setting (Again) April 16th-18th...

Woke up to two hatched out this morning. Had to work from 8 to 7 got home and we now have 11 hatched out with three more pipped. My Wife and daughters had a blast watching them hatch today. For a first hatch I am pretty happy so far glad to see others are having good luck also I have 7 more eggs left hopefully most of them will hatch.

i'm not an expert at all but i have heard that bantams sometimes hatch early. if it was me i would turn at least that one back and probably the others since they have to get into position to hatch. add some warm water to boost humidity and then lock down. i hope someone with more experience will chime in too. good luck!! keep us posted

If you heard cheeping Then leave all the egg alone that way you don't mess with the humidity. It will not hurt the chicks if they are not turned one last time. Everything will be fine just don't open the incubator.

MJChickens,

The problem was, I turned them all and after I did that I heard a chirp, so should I turn them back to before I had turned them...obviously if it's cheeping (and boy was it when I went back again and bumped the eggs) it's already turned so it shouldn't have been.....if that makes sense. And I was doing a slightly dry hatch so it doesn't have much water in there right now...

Out of the 2 times I've tried this (and have had no success) this is the first internal pip I've ever heard! I guess maybe 3rd times a charm (I know don't count my chickens before they hatch)

Out of 16 eggs, 8 have hatched. It seems to me that 2 have pipped and quit and we are still waiting on the other 6. At least one of those has pipped internally so we are pretty optimistic! They were not due until tomorrow afternoon anyway!

Woohoo, you guys are on a roll! I have 4 BLRW out(one was pipped on the wrong side and couldn't turn, so I helped it out), 1 pipped, and 6-8 more that should go soon. I have BBS Ameraucana eggs in there as well, but I don't think any are good. Couldn't really tell candling with a small flashlight, so I will just leave them for a bit. These chicks really need to hurry, I am so anxious! I will be picking up my 2+ dozen Lavender Orpington eggs tomorrow and my Hovabator Genesis 1588 Monday so those can get going ASAP!

Oh, we need more pics! I will take pics of mine shortly!

Don't give up on the two that pipped and you think quit. I had my first pip around noon....and that egg did nothing until just a while ago....now it is just starting to zip. I was really worried about that one.

I have my first chick.....she just now popped out! And there are about 15 more pips....wow....this is almost as nerve wracking as the last hatch. Almost.

Watched the humidity spike as she hatched. Am not changing anything but it was interesting to watch. Fogged up a bit of the window. This is the one that I worried because she pipped but did not break the membrane and it was really looking dry. So, I laid a small piece of wet paper towel over the pip for a few minutes.

She seems strong and she sure is loud. Maybe that will 'egg' on some of the others that are pipped. It's going to be a long night! How can I go to bed with babies being born???

Where are all ya'll anyway? Oh....mothers day. I just told everyone they had to be up here tomorrow that I had babies due! That is why this thread has been so slow tonight!

more to follow.....
