We are at 12 now with 4 still in the bator. One of those has pipped and is starting to zipp. No activity yet from the other 3
I was wondering how long eggs would continue to be fertile. I rehome my BR roo because he was meaner than all get out and I started marking the BR eggs so I would know when he left.

I have heard that chickens can lay fertile eggs as much as 3 weeks after the roo is gone. I had 4 Barred Rock eggs in this hatch. One of them came out as a black sex link so I know his daddy is the RIR. The other three came out yellow two with black spots the other without spots. Their daddy had to be Col. Sanders, my EE roo.

Ha! Caught up with you!

9 in the brooder
3 hatched in the incubator: going to leave them in for quite a while....they seem to get the others going. Can only see five that do not have pips! Only one blue egg did not have a pip a while ago....my DGD's eggs.

Wishing my big meal would cook itself.....have to get started chopping and getting things ready! Get my laundry put up as my daughter will want to do her laundry while she is here! W&D have been getting a workout lately as I am doing my MIL's laundry also twice a week!

I just want to sit with the incubator. You know all along I have been able to see movement in all the eggs. The $10 candler was worth it that I bought from incubator warehouse. I could candle the eggs sitting in the turner!

I know you are excited Delmar about your hatch this time! And Mrs. Delmar is probably worn out from taking pictures! Will post mine later today when everyones has their new 'dos' on!

Okay, today is day 22 for me. I have 4 in the brooder(they hatched yesterday morning), 1 that pipped, and 6-8 more that looked good upon lockdown. How long should I give them? Should I float test to make sure they are viable? No pips or peeping yet. How often will some hatch on time and others go late? I really want these BLRW to hatch! My first hatch was early(days 19 & 20), so I am thinking the temp may have been a bit cooler this go around. Next batch is going in another room too. The bator is very close to the air conditioner in my kitchen/dining room and I believe it is causing my humidity to not stay high enough. Some of my chicks are very sticky.

YAY! Happy Mother's Day to me (at least where it counts in pets)! My first successful hatch. I guess third time is a charm. I woke up to this, one egg has a pip on it, and one was rocking. My only concern is this little bugger is flopping around so much it's knocking the other eggs around and one is on an X side when it should be on an O side......

Our local feed stores sell this (I am in Texas and it's a Texas company) I haven't tried it yet, but I do know when one of them first got it in they needed some "test" people

I guess they liked it enough to have kept it and still sell it. Thanks for the link, I think I will try it free first (then price it if I like it)

Okay, never mind, I'm worrying about nothing. The rocking 'X' egg has quite the pip in it and she's rocking pretty good.......another rocker though, that makes 3! Yay BLRW you go girls! Now if only my 2 smaller spitzhauben eggs would do something.
