I think this is going to be a very long night for me, still just a tiny hole but I`m not complaining it`s a start

All is QUIET here, I could have swore I had heard some commotion in there on Day 19 last time, but I did have one early pipper that didn't make it and I had ducks that hatched one day early so that's probably why - all my chicks started Day 21 and a few stragglers on Day 22.

It's that day or two before that I begin to panic, did I do it right, are they alive in there?

I'll settle down once I see SOMETHING!

I have about 20 hatched so far! 2 more I can see that are pipped, and 3 others I can't see if they have pips. I will try and take pics in the morning! Unfortunately, I see a few with single combs...darn!

Can't wait to see more pics from others!

Did you still have 36 at lockdown? 20 is pretty darn good. Single combs huh, were they your own or did you buy these eggs?

I had 25 at lockdown. They are from birds I recently acquired. Not sure if I will be keeping these chicks or not, but even if they have single combs, as long as they are hens they can be a part of a layer flock.

In fidget mode here...i more or less locked down yesterday, took out the 4 quitters, just have two lonely eggs...of course that screwed up my temp, which had been just fine in my cheapie hovabator...i fiddled with it most of the day, and it had been right where i wanted it for 6 hrs when i went to sleep..this morning it was 98....grrr.

Does anybody know a reason why i shouldn't put a terry washcloth in there, sneggled around them so they don't roll around so much?("sneggled" was a typo but i left it...this is my brain on eggs...)

BTW, i remember when i was in labor i had a compulsion to clean house...and cook...at the moment, i've got the living room torn apart, retouching the paint...washing windows....dining room's next...;~)
