Setting duck eggs on Saturday, 8/18 - Anyone wanna join? (Set by next Saturday for chicken eggs)

This waiting is driving my 5 yr old crazy!! All she wants to see is baby chicks.

So Red, what did you end up doing about the eggs from the farmer's market, since they aren't due to hatch for a while? Did you end up building a separate hatcher?

and now I wish the eggs would hatch cause I too catch myself looking in the incubator every 5 min.
 
You know what you have to do? Once these chicks hatch you're gonna have to find some eggs from different breeds and set them so they hatch when my second batch of ducks hatch! That way we can keep each other company, and you can get a bigger breed and egg variety. Plus it's fun and addictive to hatch :lol: You know you want to.....

Once they pip they take a rest for a while, to absorb all the yoke and pull the blood vessel network on the shell inside of them. They can rest for up to 24 hours. Longer than that and you start to worry. Then the actual zipping can be completed in half an hour or less.

You know why else you need to hatch more eggs? At least half of your little peeps are probably gonna be roosters. You'll want more hens for sure. It's how chicken math works :gig
