Setting Eggs 12/28 - Hatching Buddies? Hatch-Along

Most of our hardware supply stores carry the red lights, you might try your feed store. I think I saw them in Wal-mart also in the light bulb area. I usually brood inside and have a harder time finding the smaller wattage bulbs. I have a couple smaller ones I found in the reptile section at feed store.
Thank You

I can hear chicks in some of my eggs. Tapping away like little miners chipping out jewels!

Interesting trivia:
If your egg has not pipped externally yet, that tapping noise you can hear is actually the noise of the chick breathing. It means the chick has successfully pipped internally and the lungs have started working, so it's a good sign! But the noise itself is not the chick tapping on the shell. After it pips externally, you can still hear the noise a bit, and you'll notice it even when the chick is not actively trying to break out of the shell.

Well I had one quitter when I candled everyone. Cracked it open and it looks like it quit around day 10. I dissected it and took pictures for my own curiosity. Very interesting!

Also, I never imagined having too much humidity would be my problem. Cracked the lid to get the humidity below 40 and it started going right back up again. I poured some of the water out too, there's only got to be a few cc's of water in there now. I also turned on the dehumidifier that's down there. It was 65% humidity in the room! No wonder, haha.

Its scratching and irratic taps. Not consistant. Once it breaks thru it then begins to peep. He is all the way iut a beautiful golden either Italian or Manchurian.

so sweet! what kind is it again? I'm anxious for this week.!!

I'm hoping to get a few hatched on my b day lol. I locked down the little one yesterday with 3 eggs... I haven't added any water yet. I'll add some if I see some action. I figured the air cells would have time to expand. I know next time I need a small hygrometer for that one so we will see how it goes. I feel like my first time around is trial and error.

I'm looking down the Genesis today. I'm getting a lot of movement in there so hopefully all goes well. I had to pull some eggs from my broody too... she just couldn't cover them all. of the ones I pulled 2 had chicks so out of good consciousness I plopped them in the bator. I think she is still sitting on 10.
