Setting eggs 6/11 and 7/4 - Join me!

CONGRATS Tamma! Can we get some fluffy pics??

I can't remember who asked about polish crested vs frizzle polish- same bird, the "crested" is an add on that refers to the topknot poof on their heads. I've never seen a polish without a crest/poof, and most people just say "polish". Frizzle is a variation of the polish that has curly body feathers as well :)

Welcome to the thread, Cowgirl! Let us know how the hatch goes- I think we all love the first "peep peep peep" we hear in the bator!

I had a bit of a fright last night, when one of my adult buttons started making a noise that sounded like the wail the chicks make in the incubator (and the incubator is over by their tank, so of course I thought chicks were coming out early!). So middle of the night I shoot upright and stumble across the room like a zombie. But it was just my adults, looking at me like "why is mom crazy?"

I'm set to go into lockdown tomorrow for the button quail eggs. I'm pretty excited! They should be hatching late this weekend or by monday for sure. Since I still have to leave the turner on for the 7 other eggs in the incubator, I think I will put the quail eggs into a small tupperware so they can't get away. It'll also let me put all the eggs directly under the viewing window

It's weird, because I've had *really* excellent luck keeping the quail eggs on the turner upright (with the turner off) rather than laying them on their sides to hatch. They seems to do worse for me on their sides- weird right??

Also, I just heard back from the person I am getting my peafowl eggs from, and they said the birds have started laying again, and my eggs will ship Monday. I will be putting in more turkey eggs with those peafowl eggs, and hopefully there will be plenty of chicks to choose from when the time comes. I'm really nervous about the turkeys... I hear they are terrible to hatch!

Update.....Now there are 3!!! I still have 2 eggs in the incubator that are alive but being stubborn I guess. I keep checking on them. I'm hopeful that they will hatch today.

KEDREEVA.... I agree, I like to keep mine upright. I think it's easier for the chick to hatch. I cut the top off the egg carton. I can cut them down to what ever size I need. They work great and easy clean up:)

Hey how is everyone else doing ? I have been non-stop busy with baling hay here in Ohio. Wish I had more time to get on the computer.

I put 35 out of the orig 48 in lockdown this morning at 8. All have good aircells except one that seems a little small. Finger crossed. Best of luck to everyone on your hatches.

funny I put 35 out of 48 into lock down too! Today is hatch day for me..2 hatched last night on day 20 and so far 4 more have hatched!

Polish crested anything like a polish frizzle? Noticed you are in Sequim - I can't wait to go to the lavender festival next month. I'm near Tacoma.

My guess is that a Polish Frizzle would be a cross between a Frizzle and a polish crested! I love Lavender festival too! Hope is doesn't rain like last year!

It's just my buttons, everything else seems to hatch better laying down. I haven't had a single peafowl egg hatch upright, it's like they get confused!
