Setting eggs 6-18 anyone with me

I'm still waiting on my first 2 to finish hatching. I swear I wish it would've just happened over night, that way I wouldn't feel like i'm wasting my whole day checking on them every 30 seconds. I feel like this day is going so super slow!

Got a third one this afternoon.

When do you put the fluffy chicks into the brooder?
The one standing will be 24 hours old @4pm. The other dark chick (they look like twins) laying down @8pm.
The yellow chick was just hatch so it wont be 24 hrs old until noon tomorrow.

Should I wait until there is at least 6 of them so they can keep each other warm?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

First hatch ever, and I'm very much LOVING IT!

Cleaning out the broken shells and filling water. Too cute not to snap a photo.

Congratulations to everyone on their hatches!

There sure are some cute pics of adorable chicks. Sorry to read about the losses, as it is so tough to lose a baby chick.

I started with 34 Silkie eggs and I just put 32 into lock down at 6;30 this morning. I only candled on day 7 so there may be some that have quit on me. Hoping for a good hatch as I have 15 chicks sold and I wanted the rest for myself. The next 3 days will probably be slow as molasses.

Puglady, I guess we may be the last to have hatches. Good luck to you!

What I have been told and have read is that you try to wait until most or all have hatched as the chicks can go 72 hours without food or water. You don't want to risk losing your humidity level by opening the bator unless you have to. Your chicks are precious!!!

I started a couple of days after everyone and they just went into lock down last night. Should be here sometime on Wed I think. Quick question though. If I set on a Wed evening does this count as 1 or does Thursday evening count as day 1? I've been counting as Thrusday evening counts as 1 as its a whole 24 hours. If its the other way the chicks should be here tomorrow and I put them into lock down a day late....

I started my eggs in the evening too. Counted day one as 24 hrs. later (would be Thursday eve for you). We had power outages while mine were in lockdown - 17 hatched starting on day 20 and ending late on day 22. I don't know why some came early - just expect the unexpected! My eggs were all bantams too and sometimes they hatch early. I always let my eggs go to day 23 just to be sure.

So my chicks are in their eggs upside down it looks like. Both eggs are in an egg crate fat end up and I can see the chicks and they're heads are down and I can tell that the beak is upside down. Should I lay the eggs down? Would that be easier for them to come out. 1 of them has been this way since 5 this morning and hasn't made any progress. I can see him moving in there lots and cheeping, but doesn't seem to be able to get the rest of the shell off or get turned around.

I heard at least one peeping when I got home last night. This morning I had one pip. Now I have two pipped and peeping and at least one other rocking and rolling. Come on, chickies! I want my dozen babies!

ETA: We took the bator into the bathroom and opened the bator to help them a little (we steamed up the bathroom, first). Activity had decreased and I think one of them had membrane stuck to its beak. Both are much more active, now! Hoping they start zipping and that we get some more action soon!
