Setting eggs, anyone want to join me? Hatch-Along

Good luck everyone!!

I candled my 14 eggs last night, and I didn't see much of anything. They are on day 5 now. I usually see veins, and a red spot, but I only see tiny red lines coming from the air sack.

I also have 1 clear egg, but that one was refrigerated, and I wanted to see if it would hatch because it was a green egg. XD
I candled my egg that is due on Sunday, and it is 'swimmin around inside! This one is also going to be a mutt, but this one may, be fathered by my old silkie mix rooster. I hope so.

This is my old rooster, when he was young.

And this is the last combination I got, from hatching eggs bred by him.

I had that problem too, but it was because they had planted themselves on the air cells! Wait until day 7 or 10 to make sure there's nothing :)

I had them on a turner for 24 hours before setting them, so I don't know why they would be stuck.

I was turning mine too. It was like they floated to the top of the egg when they were still zygotes. Who knows! All I know is that after several days I could see them right next to the air cell and I saw blood vessels coming down from the air cell. Besides, the embryos weren't stuck it was just that that's where their blood vessels started to form.

Another question-or two. I read that when I turn eggs in bator I open it (at least 3x day)& spray eggs with water mist, correct?
Also artical said when opening do not tip lid.
What does that mean? Hold it level ?(to keep some of the heat under the lid I'm guessing)
I think I'll try one more place to find hygrometer but feel like todays the day to place the eggs in the incubator. I know I could wait until friday but am so excited to start!

No, no- don't mist the eggs! Just fill the wells in your bator (some people even dry hatch and don't add any water until lockdown). If you spray the eggs it could allow bacteria inside and that'll ruin your whole hatch.
As for not tipping the lid, I open mine way up when I turn. In fact, my thermometer is pretty big and I use it to prop the lid open while I'm in there. A hen would get off her eggs and allow them to cool anywhere from 10 mins to an hour everyday. Day 18 is when you don't want to be messing with the lid (lockdown). You'd stop turning that day anyway, so there's no reason for the lid to be off anyhow. I don't even take the lid off to remove chicks that hatch. They absorb their yolk for up to 3 days, so I leave them in there until everyone is done :)
