I've got 3 chicks now!!! I've decided that when they dry off I'm going to give them to Tina, who's on broody duty! Its cold and I don't want her sitting and it saves me from brooding them in the house. Win-win!

hey guys should I help Pip out? He's trying to push on the egg but he can barely move cause the way he is positioned and all he's doing is pushing the same spot he broke through. He's trying to chirp but he can't make no sound, is there such thing as mute chickens!?

If the blood in the veins is gone go ahead and help. Just don't separate the umbilical from his bottom or the egg shell, it could cause him to bleed. Good luck!

Ok thank you, but what about his chirping he trys to talk back to me when I talk to him but no sound comes out of his little mouth. could this be a problem??

You can help, but you should set the egg in a cup so that he can't get out all the way. He needs to absorb the yolk. Peel the shell away and if the inner membrane has no veins set him in a cup with his bottom down and then let him out in a couple hours or until he is able to kick out

That is strange. He might not be completely in control I his lungs because he didn't have the chance to internally pip and strengthen them. I would only make the hole big enough for his whole beak and then let him chill out in the egg until the evening

The only other thing I can think of is something obstructing his airway, compressing his chest, or a defect from irregular temp and humidity

Ok, his veins are nearly dried up but I'm going to give him a little bit. It could also be from how cramped he is in the egg. He's like all balled up near the air sack area, which I already capped. But he's still trying to push but he can't move anywhere. His toes are curled up near his head and he is completely sideways in the egg. :/
