I have 13 button Quail eggs going into the incubator this morning, I hope lucky number 13 helps with my hatch! Is anyone else putting eggs in today? I need a hatching buddy :D

I hope you have an awesome hatch!! this my second but my first quail hatch :D before I hatched out 3 barred roks and 9 light Sussex and 10 barnyard mixes. They are 14 weeks old and growing like crazy!

I'm being really paranoid about the humidity right now. Dry, it was running at around 20-24%, and I put in 2oz of water and it's up to 39%. Sooooooo, hopefully I don't have to pull the lid off and take some of the water out! All my eggs were shipped, and I'm pretty sure I had 2 loose airsacs, so I'm going to leave them stright-up in the turner until Sunday. We're going camping this weekend, and I'm pretty sure I don't need to add tinkering with the incubator to the list of things our housesitter will be doing. I'm pretty sure I'll have it dialed in the rest of the way by Friday.

I'm building a new incubator... if I get it finished by this afternoon like I wanted, I'll be setting 20 chicken eggs tomorrow after I've calibrated the temp and humidity overnight. So, maybe we can hatch together... I know quail aren't usually the same time to hatch, but we'll be together for the most part!

My eggs are shipped too, my eggs will only take 16 days until hatch but I am still planning on getting a million pictures from everyone when their fuzzy butts hatch lol ;) hmm.. I wonder if you can call button quail fuzzy butts? Do they have the fluff like chickens do?? The things I ponder  anyway, I hope that your incubator is coming along nicely RooJet mind posting pics of it?? I have my eggs in a Hovabator Bator 1602n that I love to pieces but I am working on a homemade one just to keep me busy over the summer :)

Can you use the same method (salt/water mix in a bag) with a digital thermometer/hygrometer? I didn't bother to calibrate mine. I'm extra curious since I'm battling pretty low humidity in the 'bator right now.....got it up to 39% before work last night, was at 38% overnight (I got up and checked on it at 4am) and was at 28% when I got up this morning. The temp is holding like a champ though. :)

Good luck everyone!
I put 4 fertile eggs under my broody at 12:30am - I hope her natural instincts are ready!
She just wants to sit in her empty nest 24hrs a day so we gave her a productive project to work on.

Edited to add: It's her first try - pray for us or wish us good luck!

Good luck, I've never had a broody before but my chickens are only little still, do you prefer to let her brood and let her and the eggs be or put them in the incubator and watch them more?

I don't know, it might,i tried it with my digital without a probe and it worked. Mine is a national geographic indoor thermometer and hygrometer and it is guaranteed to be accurate with 1/10 of a degree or something like that and 4-5 % humidity, i love it. You can buy them at Walmart for around $15. :D
