Setting eggs August 15, anybody else want to join me?

Well, didn't get the new incubator up and running until last night, but it has consistently held at 99 & 60 for the last fourteen hours... so we'll probably be setting our eggs tonight! I'll post a pic with the setting. :)

went camping this weekend and came home to find my humidity down to 10%...which is as low as the gauge goes. Candled briefly (to see if ANYTHING was/is going on in there!) and I think there are only 5 total that look clear (2 of those had loose airsacs that were ID'ed before going in) or maybe a day behind in development. Some had definate veining going on too! Plugged the turner in, so I'll have to monitor the temp and humidity a lot more today to compensate for the heat from the motor. YAY!!!

OK, i admit it. I failed. :p i told myself that i would not candle these eggs at all, but i candled them an hour ago. lol On the bright side 10 out of 13 are growing on shipped eggs!!! :D

Haha Lucky1 I gave in to temptation too and candled our 4 eggs tonight!
Two are wigglers, one was clear and I took it out of the nest.
One I had to stare at for a REALLY long time to see the faintest movement, and I almost called it a quitter before I saw a shadow move slightly.
It has a small air pocket on the wide end and a huge air pocket on the small/point end of the egg.
Not sure about that one.

I candled last week and took out 12 eggs. My new 'candler' (200 lumens LED flashlight) should be here today or tomorrow and then I'm candling again since there were a few that were iffy, but I couldn't tell for sure with my not-great flashlight, so I left them in. Then I'm not touching them until Sunday, taking a quick peek again, and then LOCK DOWN! I can't believe we're only 6 days from lockdown!!

How did it go gladahmae ?
Did your flashlight arrive? Mine is 144 lumens from Walmart -
I was happy to see wiggling but I didn't see the extreme veining
in our brown eggs compared to some photos I've seen.

I made a new area for my broody and her chicks Sunday afternoon.

The flashligh got here, and it isn't that much better than the one I had......but I didn't know how strong the one I had was, so it was worth the $5. I had a few that looked good, and an equal number that look like duds. I divided them up in the incubator, so the ones that looked OK are on one side, and the ones that I think are no good are on the other side. I'm going to candle one last time on either Saturday night or Sunday night, pitch at least 2 that I know need to come out, and then cross fingers and toes for something to happen! There was a lot of action in one of my mottled houdan eggs, and it's sooo easy to see since they have white shells.
