Setting eggs August 15, anybody else want to join me?

yea...I'm pretty geeked about the houdans. We saw some Polish at the fair and I loved their ridiculous puff-ball crests. I'm hoping to get a female from the hatch so I have more color variety in my egg basket. Next on my list are some blue egg layers, and then I'll try to hatch my own olive eggers.

Hatch day for me!!! But no babies yet! Lockdown was (I think) Tuesday, so humidity has been 50-60% since then but no signs of hatching yet :/ my last and first hatch came a day early so no extra waiting! Yeesh, if these guys don't come soon I am going to have an anxiety attack they are laying on the bottom of the incubator and it's 99.9 down there. How is everyone else doing??

Candled our 3 eggs last night -- all are still wiggling

Ya, buttons only take 16 days! And that's great news! I hope they all hatch for you. This morning was day 16, how long do you think I should wait until testing them with water? My temps have been a little high if anything! They should have hatched my now, but I guess that's the chance you take with shipped eggs :/ I will give them until 10ish tomorrow morning until 'investigating' unless someone says otherwise

I would leave them be for another day. No sense in poking around in there and messing things up just because of impatience.

And yes, you can quote me on that next week when I want to go rooting through my eggs because nothing is going on.

I think I'll candle tonight instead of Saturday so that DH can look at them with me. I work tomorrow night and Saturday night, so I won't be home until quite late, and then DH has a side-job on Sunday. Plus, I might see if he can rig up a quick box with a flood light in it to candle with for my marans eggs.

I have babies!!!! I checked them just before I went to bed and I found 6 tiny pips! I woke up at 6 and watched the first chick hatch! A second is rocking and rolling and should be out soon! I'll post pics soon, it's unbelievable how small they are and I was scared I was going to hurt them when I took her (hopefully) out of the incubator!

Starting to think about lockdown here!
Moved her out of the green thing, it makes me feel better that the babies will have a bit more space around the hen.
The move went without a hitch - here she is getting settled back on them after having something to eat & drink.

YEAAAAAAA, Babiesssss. Congratulations!!! They hatch so fragile and so strong at the same time. I love to see them hatch....Post pictures soon so we get confort in the waiting time still ahead.
Of the 15 wheaten ameraucana (shipped) only 5 developed and of those 5 I think 1 is a quitter. Hope to get those 4 alive and well. I used a few of my eggs as a control group and they are developing great.
