setting eggs for the first time 4/22...anybody want to join me?

first question...can i add eggs hens lay later today if the first ones in the bator have already been there a few hours?

Boy I sure hope so!!Because I did! LOL
I thought I had all the eggs in the bator for the day (for some reason my girls like to lay in the morning!)
I went back out to sit and watch the girls for a while and someone snuck a few more in! I found 4 more in
the nest. There was about 3 hrs diff. between the first batch and the last 4 I stuck in. I can't imagine it would
make that much difference, but this is my first time hatching.

I had two girls go broody - first time for us...so I went and got some fertile eggs (we don't have a roo) and put them under them...that was yesterday - so I am a day ahead of you...but will watch together! What fun!

hathor, yes, I put more eggs in the 'bator 2 days after I set the first batch and I had hatching for 3 days. I locked down for the first set and just stayed in lock down
your 3 hours wont make a bit of differnce. it would be cool if you to note of which ones were the later set to see if they hatch before the others.

my next batch is due the 30th, so I can't hatch with you, I hust thought i'd answer ur question.

thank you! i am certainly excited. i am hatching in a room that is upstairs in a building with a heated pool directly below it...with the room's door leading to the pool area and as i mentioned it's 2nd floor so it's HOT in there, and pretty humid. i am going to try the "dry" method so we will see! i may not be able to keep humidity below 50% but will certainly try. it runs at 29% humidity with no water whatsoever in the bator...

I just loaded my bator with some eggs I got on e -bay the 14 polish assortment purebred so my hatch date should be around may 11 or 12 plus I put In 3 of my buff orphin eggs to see what I get from her , Im excited to get some fluffy headed chickens from the polish I only have one girl and hatched out her eggs to only get ugly birds

seeing she dont have the proper mate to make the feathers on there head.

question so far: why does the turner say 41 egg capacity, yet there are spaces for 42 eggs?

24 mostly Blue cooper Marans....................a few eggers and a few.who knows what mixes from the main flock.
