Got a pip in the brinsea!!!

I heard the chick singing and singing. My DH thought I was nuts that I heard singing with all the chicks in the kitchen. But I heard it!!


As for Day 7 in the cabinet. I candled all of them today. I have 2 infertile silkies. I usually leave them until day 14 before I toss to be sure. But they look pretty dang infertile. I turned a little late today. like 3 hours later. Is that going to hurt them. No dang auto turner for the cabinet.

I had several occasions I forgot to turn until hours later and I had 25/30 hatch!

Agree with Itsa ginormous, I seldom achieve 12 hours between turning. And I only turn twice daily as I am at work most days. Had 60% hatch last batch, with one batch of shipped eggs hatch out 100%.

Candled today... Took out a few that were obviously clear or not developing at all.. Blood rings etc. So I'm down to 30 but I have another batch coming this week of Americaunas. I'm soooo excited!!

Ok folks... added another dozen dark brown layers, Banies, blue/black/splash marans, wellies. I have a staggered hatch. 8 Days apart. So, when I am done hatching this batch (5 hatched out today!) I will be putting all of them from the cabinet to the brinsea. Why risk the move? It has an auto turner and holds both temp, and humidity better. Then I will hatch this staggered hatch in the cabinet.

From this first hatch in the brinsea, I learned that, although the brinsea is great, there isn't a lot of room. In fact, my five little peepers are in the cabinet with the staggered hatch right now.

What else...I dumped the two infertile eggs today. I cracked them and checked to be sure.

What abou everyone else? How is everyone else doing?

So, I get to candle again today....can I candle a few at a time throughout the day, or do I need to do it all together?

How is everyone doing? Tonight will be Day 7 for me!

I usually candle them all at once, otherwise I loose track of what I have candled all ready

. I suspect that frequent candling is not good for the embyros.

Candled last night and pulled 4 eggs, set aside about 12 more to recheck in a few days but I don't think they are going to be any good.
