Setting eggs May Day 5/1 want to join me?

Just thought I'd add a pic of my set up, too. Will the basket be okay when the chicks hatch? Or should I reinforce the bottom row with mesh? Is there enough room for the 10 potential babies?

Well, I am on Day 14 for my EE/Millie Fleur d'Uccle hatch.. tossed another Millie Fleur

I'm sort of bummed and sort of relieved I guess. I got SO MANY eggs but they were such a great price. I'm down to 9 EE (out of 13) and only 13 or so MFD... now my Americaunas.. AMAZING.. I received 20... 15 LF and 5 Banties.. ALL of the LF eggs are fertile and thriving on day 5! Only 1 Bantie looks good.. STILL...

Had to check my 2 guinea eggs last night, it was driving me insane, and they are developing great....Trying to get another incubator ready for me to move them into when my chicken eggs go into lockdown Friday night.....I had a LG up and going, but it spiked to 104 for no apparent reason, so I cleaned out my other Hovabator 1602N and got it up and running, now just trying to tweak it to get the temperature right...

I did not candle my chicken eggs last night, will wait till Friday for them like I am suppose to.....

How is everyone else coming along?????

I'm getting nervous about my staggered hatch

I really need another incubator to use as a hatcher but I can't afford it. I'm too busy to try and build one myself now.. just hoping for the best I guess. I go into lock down on Thursday

I candled them last night. Of the 10, 9 were wiggling and vein-ey and my 1 marans was a big fuzzy black blob with no distinct features, blood vessels or movement. I'm told thats normal for such a dark egg and my gut is telling me to keep it, so... we shall see! The air sacks all looked smaller than the examples I've seen online for day 14, so I let the humidity drop to 45% today with the hope that the air sacks will be "right" by lockdown.

I also got the brooder set up right next door to the incubator (the added bonus of using a 55g aquarium for an incubator, I guess, LOL!) and modified the hatching nest a bit. I took out the basket (which has been repurposed as a roost using dowels and zip ties!) and wedged a cookie cooling rack between the heat/water dish and the eggs instead, fluffed up the shredded paper into a nest, and AM GOING TO LEAVE IT ALONE for the next week.

I'll candle again before I close up the 'bator and hope for the best.

Q: Is the last egg turn on Wednesday night or Thursday morning? If Wednesday, when do I start increasing the humidity? Is it okay to close the vents to maintain the parameters during lockdown?

Hi all! Well I am down to 17 of my original 43

, lots of detached air sacs and non-starters this time.

on the plus side (sort of) the bantam cochin eggs that shipped last tuesday finally arrived yesterday, none broken and only one detached air sac but 6 days shipping!?! Put then in last night in an egg carton, think I will wait a few days before I start turning them. Thanks to the tracking number we know they spent 2 days sitting in a PO in georgia, so much for "priority"

Joneus, you do not turn for the last 3 days. Since I set my eggs on saturday evening, I will increase my humidity and turn them for the last time wednesday morning.

Good luck on the bantams... stupid post office!

I set mine on Sunday morning, so.... Thursday, then. Got it! Thanks!

Just "checked in" on a couple of my eggs (maybe 4 chickens and the 2 guinea) and all are looking good...the air cell's have increased, the chicks have definitely grown since I last looked which was 5 or 6 days ago, and all that I candled were moving about.....

Got my 2nd bator up and steady with the temp so that I can move the guinea eggs into it on Friday when my chicks go into lockdown....I will also be setting some americauana eggs on Thursday in the 2nd bator as well......Just LOVE this hatching stuff...

3 more days till LOCKDOWN of my chicks, wahoo!
