Count me in for Memorial Day Weekend. I just placed 12 RIR, 12 Barnyard Mix, and 12 mystery brown fertilized eggs from Rock Island Farms (purchased in a local supermarket). This will be my first hatch...Wish me luck!

Can I join in? I put 41 eggs in the bator on the 28th. I am not going to even candle until day 11 or 12. If I start I will want to check them every day. I have a barnyard mix of DP breeds. My neighbor has mostly BO hens her roo is a beautiful BR. These eggs are mostly hers. Three of them are mine from my favorite hen that is a BO/RIR. I have a Delaware Roo and a Jumbo Cornish Roo. We shall see what we get. I am trying to get my own sustainable flock for me and my neighbor. I LOVE to hatch!

Good Luck to everyone!

I set 41 eggs on 05/29. 10 - Blk Javas, 11 - Silkies (10 B/B/S & 1 WH), 8 Guinea, 3 - Red Sex links and the rest Barred Rock, WH Rock or a mix of both. Our BR's and WR's run together.

I bought a used LG 9200 foam bator at auction. Ran it for 3 days empty and temp held at 100 - 101 round the clock, humidity was all over the place. I loaded it with eggs. Now my temps fluctuate but humidity is stable at 55%. I'm gonna let it drop to the 45 - 50 range though. I wanted to check the digital for accuracy so I put 2 more thermometers in only to find that all 3 register different.

The digital therm/hygro bounces between 97 - 98, second shows 100 pretty steady and the LG that came with my turner fluctuates 99.5 - 102. I have no idea which is accurate. I hope that so long as I keep it in this range Ill be ok.

You and me both Sequoia! And I feel like a nervous chick mommy all over again. I've been checking on my broody at least 4 times a day. Haha!

This is awesome! Lots and lots of hatch buddies

Everyone doing well so far?

Yeah. Like highline I am also getting different temp measurements from two thermometors in my LG 9200. This egg hatching business is harder than it looks! Last night I kept waking up to check the temps. I feel like a broody hen!

I have been nervous about my temps, but it has stayed right a 100 with 48-50% humidity. I have asked my hubby if he could please hide my flashlight that he bought me to candle. It seems to be easier to maintain humidity than it was in the winter! This is my third hatch, and I would love to get 100% hatch rate. I am so excited to have Hatch Buddies!

Day 3 done!!!

Well I had to run to the store today, and what did I see? A LED flashlight that was the perfect size for a candling light. So what did I do today, even though there was a huge thunderstorm about to start (don't worry it was still very, very warm and it hadn't started rain yet)? Yup I candled the eggs while Chole got a quick drink. Now I know I was a bit rushed, and it was too bright out. But I did find out for sure, that her lil egg is fertile and developing nicely!!!! The BR egg seemed to have some veining coming in. But the blue eggs I'm still at a loss for. I tried using the new flashlight on some of the same eggs that I had at home in the fridge, and while in the complete dark I could see through them fine. So my plan is to wait until day 5-6 (if I can be patient) and try again.

This is sooooo exciting! How's everyone else doing?
