I didn't. I don't think vaseline is antibacterial and I didn't want to risk rubbing bacteria on the egg membranes.

I just dabbed with a little clean water and wrapped in a wet paper towel. I only pulled a little bit off so she could get more air but I think I'm pretty sure it has a cross beak. :/

Should I remove it from the bator and let it pass? I know they can live with them and lead somewhat happy lives but I just wouldn't want to have to worry about it all the time.

CRUD. All of my shipped eggs air cells are detached or ruptured. I'm going to have to find some local eggs to add in to up my chance of SOMETHING hatching for me.

I made a deal to buy some silkie eggs from the lady I bought my chicks from so I will have a few undamaged eggs. I don't want a complete Easter bust.


So I introduced myself a little on another thread and realized I hadn't with my hatch buddies.

I'm Victoria from Louisiana. I'm 25, married to my high-school sweetheart Joshua for 5 years. We've been together over 8 years. I'm a stay at home mom with a 3 year old daughter. We have a male golden retriever and a female German shepherd. 2 cats- an inside cat and and an outside cat. 2 chinchillas, a sulcata tortoise, a leopard gecko, 2 sand Boas and a horse as well as an assortment of chickens-mostly chicks.

My name is Cara and I'm from Woodland Hills, CA. I'm 24 years old and I recently started my own pet sitting/dog walking business last year. My boyfriend, Anthony, and I have been together for almost 2 years. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have chickens. He built me my first coop and drove me hours away to by the chicks. We love to garden and are currently in the process of turning his suburban backyard into a mini farm. We also have the best little blue pit ever named Stella. Stella is really confused about whats going on in the brooder right now. haha

Such cutie pies. They look a little like my Cochin chicks. Our German shepherd Angel stares in the brooders and whines.

She's a rescue dog.

We've only lived here about 8 months. We have about 5 acres of land. We only have chickens and the horse but we are going to get a pig sometime this summer when we can get a sty built, as a pet. We don't slaughter anything.

Sandy- Welsh/ quarterhorse mix. We got her for our daughters 3rd bday.

I'm not sure, but aren't you supposed to let shipped eggs sit for like 1-2 days after arriving? Mine arrive today and I can't wait to see what we got and how they are. I hope they're all good. I think that's why they're supposed to set, so the air cell re-attaches. If I'm wrong it's completely unintentional lol. I'm going to set mine like the morning of the 9th when we get up. I was aiming for noonish, which is what was requested by the contest host, BUT Saturday is my little girls 2nd birthday party so noon just won't work. I heard set them small end down in like a basement around like 60 degrees.....am I crazy or did I really read that? LOL anyways, here's my intro

My name is Heather, I am 27 years old from West Virginia. This June will make 5 years I have been married to college sweetheart and we have a BEAUTIFUL 2 year old daughter named Paityn Rena, who turns 2 on 3/11. She is my pride and joy! We run a farm on approximately 350 acres where we have Pait's chickens, cow/calf beef operation, harvest timothy/orchard grass/clover hay, and have 3 horses, 2 QH geldings Poker and P.I., and 1 APHA mare Dakotah who is battling a suspensory ligament injury right now. We also have 3 blue heelers left from our breeding days, Jazzmyne who is going to be 7, Justin who is going to be 6 and Jericho who just turned 3. Eventually I will get another female and breed to Justin again. They're all working stock and love their job.

My husband is a logging forester supervisor and I am mostly a stay at home mom to our little girl, I substitute teach and I work 2-3 evenings a week at a local wellness center. Not a whole lot for someone who has a Bachelors of Science in Animal and Nutritional Science, a Masters of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Science, and a minor in Equine Management and Training lol, but I love my life as a Mommy and Farmer!

I read for eggs as scrambled as mine you should incubate them in an egg carton to keep the big end straight up. I hope I can get a few Polish out of this but at least I'll have the back up silkies. Darn postal service. I don't blame the seller a drop. They were perfectly packaged.
