Setting eggs on FEB 10

Thanks Bugglesmommy, I certainly will!

I'd also love to do a hatch with the eggs from these chicks next year. That would be so neat!

I just hope fate doesn't decide to laugh at me and give me 9 roosters. x.x

My seramas love belly rubs! They go right to sleep.

I cannot get the humidity above 50% no matter what I do. Wells are full, large sponge on a paper towel soaked in there as well. I'm calling it quits tomorrow evening and eggtopsy'ing the last 3 to see if they made it any further than the other one. Apparently we started out on the right foot. I need to get this figured out before we set our Easter hatch so once I stop the 'bator, I'm cleaning it up good and going to play w/ the humidity. I heard it's not so much the depth of water but the surface area, and someone said take like a coolwhip bowl lid and put water in it and it will raise humidity more than a soaked sponge. Worth a try.

Could you get a cheap humidifier for your room?

My eggs arrived! I got 17 total and none are broken so hopefully I can get some chicks out of this. Would it be safe to wait until the 9th to set or should I set earlier?

My first chick!!!! He/she is an olive egger

It kept trying to jump out of the brooder to get to me and it could barely even walk! So precious. Now it's taking a nap finally.

My wrong end pipper has not made much progress at all. Ill try to help her once most of the others hatch.

I saw it and I saved the link! Thanks for posting. The hole in the shell is really big but she has only been able to tear a little slit in the membrane. She's still breathing and peeping away so she must be getting enough oxygen through the slit. The membrane is kind of turning tan but my humidity hasn't dropped below 72%. Is that bad?

How long has she been pipped? There's a good chance she'll need help on the wrong end. My last egg was at the right end and ended up needing help, bit I didn't realize it in time. By the time I helped he only had strength to take a few weak breaths and died in my hands. You don't want to help too soon or too early! The antibiotic ointment trick to make the membrane moist and clear was one of the best tid bits.

It's probably been about 16 hours. She's been peeping so much and trying so hard. I can see her little beak scraping the membrane inside but she never makes progress. :/
