You can add a wet sponge to the bator in a little jar to try and get it up...or soak a tampon..they hold water really well. I got a digtal thermometer/hygrometer at Radio Shack for $15.99 and it works really well. You can move the sensor around the bator to check different areas.

No it is still air, and I finally got the humidity up a little bit, but it is so dry here i don't think i will get it up past like 40% 45%... i am worried about lockdown...

Well my second order of eggs arrived. I'm doing a staggered hatch. First set of eggs on bator at day 9. The second set on day 12. I'm doing a dry incubation, forced air but also I'm trying the 7 days without turning to help with the loose air cells.

I haven't had much issue with keeping my humidity where I want it. I live in the Pacific Northwest..so maybe that helps. Maybe someone will come along with some more ideas.

Lockdown is when you are not to open it at all if it can be avoided... that starts on day 18.... you can open you incubator and the eggs can be out of the heat for 30 mins tops!! no more than that... it actually is good for them, it simulates a hen closer. just watch for temp spikes after cloing your incubator back up

well, my eggs don't look like they are developing... I set them on the 9th and I looked at 3 of them and they just look like the yolk has sunk to the bottom half of the egg. No veins. These eggs were shipped and it took 7 days to get to me. I will wait till day 10 and candle them all and throw out the nonstarters... I hope at least 10 out of 30 show signs of life.

well...had to candle. The eggs from my hens are the only ones I can see with a strong development... From the shipped eggs I checked 10 and only 1 looked like growing and did not looked like mine . I have 50 shipped eggs....lets see what happens

well, some have 6 days at the bator and some just 3. I read that at day 3 you don't see anything so I should not freak...lol...I'll candle again at day 10.

I candled (day 7) last night..just a few eggs. One of them confused me. It had the air cell on the big end but on the other end there was a dark blob filling the space at the end of the egg completely. The small end of the egg... it did not move if I rotated the egg. anyone???
