Ashley, if I went out and bought chicks to curb my needs, my DH would probably have my head! LOL! I have 10-3 week olds, 27 eggs under broodies and then surprise peeps coming for my birthday. If I went out and bought more...I think I would be sleeping in the coop with them.

Okey all, I have a question again. Incubator came in today... wooohoooo. Checking it out a few days before I order my eggs. Both thermometers are the same reading. Digital and analog. Humidity on both hygrometers are the same but with the salt test calibration, they both said 71%. First question is... how precise does the salt, water mixture have to be? Heard hygrometers need calebrated, but I just thought it was kinda weird they were both 71%. I don't have a problem with adding the 4% if I need to. Ya'lls thoughts? Next question, read in another thread after someone had incubator set good and steady, after they added the eggs, things went hay wire. Something about the change in mass. I have an LG with the circulaing air and for the whole time it's been on ( lol 3 hours ) it hasn't changed much 99.4 to 100.2. Our local Krogers has eggs on sale.. haha Should I go ahead and get 2 dozen to set my incubator up for the amount of eggs I'm gonna hatch? What am I gonna do with 2 dozen eggs that's been in 100 degrees for 3 days? Okey, I'll keep my mouth shut untill I get my eggs ordered. Would do it tomarrow, but I dont want them sitting at the post office for the 3 day weekend. Good Luck everyone. Think it was just everything getting adjusted. 71% I know is to much for a digital hygrometer, not sure about the type your using though. Mine is right at 45% for a digital, but I'm in texas.... it's 45% to 50% around here anyway.

My hygrometers are digital and analog.... and yes they are at about 46% right now. The way I understood, to calabrate you mix 1/2 salt and 1/4 water in a cup, seal it in a bag with hygrometer, and it's suposed to be 75%. If it's 71 you add 4 ... if it's 82 you subtract 7. Just thought it was weird they were both 71%. Wasn't sure if the mixture had to be exact. K.. anyway, 46% is good I guess.. lol. Temp is holding for right now still, but by the way you sounded.... when I do add my eggs the spikes will level out pretty quick? Was kinda worried about that. I did just place my order... they are due to be sent the week of the 31st so Memorail Day will be over with. Man, this is killing me. You all sound so happy and excited and worried, and disappointed. I dont think my dr would be to happy with my new venture... hahahaha.
