Setting Eggs on the 30th in Springfield, IL

looks like my chicks are slpitting 50/50 between hens and roos or so maybe 5/7 split?

I have one barred rock roo who at 3 weeks old have a comb turning red and even some wattles coming in?

Crazy fast!

Looks like 3 Javas all hens, 3 white sex-link combos (2 roos and a hen) and 6 Barred Rock...about 3 and 3

Wow, I have no sense of which of mine are hens vs. roos. Now I want to go home and examine more closely!

Well I'm pretty sure I have 1 roo and 3 pullets. The one chick has massively huge legs and has a very different stance when I put my hand in the brooder. So I'm pretty sure he's a he. I'll let you know how my guessing game goes in a few more weeks.

Not 100% sure....but I think I ended up with three Java pullets, one white mixed pullet out of a sex-link and two cockerals just like her. Then for the 6 barred rocks, either three or four are cockerals.

I am hoping to keep the 6 or 7 pullets together and build either a tractor or an arch for them and all the cockerals will go away or become dinner!

Should start to hatch a new batch on wed-friday
