My last hatch never chirped and rolled but I saw that today for the first time. Pretty cool, so much chirping i expected to see a chick. Now it pipped and nothing is going on except me going nuts!
Good luck.

I had an egg rolling around and chirping today and now all is quite. When do you know if they are in trouble? I am so worried that I locked-down late and they didn't have enough humidity. One pipped earlier today but that is all there is. It has been very quite for awhile now.

I think there may be two pips but the brown egg is so small and it has been that way all day.
The white egg was moving chirping and pipped but it's been so quite that I am getting nervous. I need to just sit on my hands but if I should be doing something & this little one dies I will feel really bad. If I open the bator and ruin all the eggs I will also feel bad---I can't win.
Any thoughts?????
As an experiment i zipped 3 of my friends eggs that were later hatchers out of their last set. 2 pipped and stalled, 1 no pip. 2 of 3 survived and came out of the egg. 1 that pipped and the one that didnt. the 2nd pipped egg i made an oopsie when i was opening the egg. totally my fault i twitched :/. They are probably just resting, How long ago did they pip?

Once they pip it can take a good 24 hrs for them to wake back up and start to zip...take it from me...stay out of the bator...I was told that and one hatch I didn't and I shrink wrapped the last chicks...they will hatch but if for some reason they don't then it was for the best...

It is really hard but after a number of hatches I found that leaving them be is best..(even though I didn't today!)

Do what I say and not what I do! :/

Yes, this will be my second batch of her eggs. I think mine all have decent feet. The lavender that I lost had too small of a toe on one foot. The darkest partridge has the shortest back I've ever seen and doesn't have any little tail feathers coming in like the others have. I am not sure what to think about that. maybe that will be one of those big poofy butts like her chickens are known to have. (wishful thinking)

Oh that's great and wonderful that your partridge has a very short back. My Lavender is getting buff colored feathers in it's wings. Is yours?

I did hear that they rest after the external pip - - any idea how long? For instance, if I go to sleep and not check until morning do you think I am waiting too long?

She's out! She's out!....and it's a splash!...yay!
I didn't think I would get a splash as I didn't think the boy was doing his job....yay!
And she has a lovely huge vault....
Oh Darrin that's fantastic! We ran out of time before we left for ATL to get online and try to arrange coming by but maybe the next Sunday we head that way. I am so happy for you and your new babies. ~ Cindy

No i think that would be fine. Ive read recently that some chicks have taken 28 hrs from pip to hatch. Make sure your temp and humidity are good and try to get some sleep :)

ps: this is one reason i LOVE having eggs hatch at my buddies store. I can stress all i want but he wont be there to let me in till morning. lol

I had heard they do rest but for how long? Ooops just reread and see 24 hours. I need to be patient. It is not my strong point. I am acting like a kid about these eggs.
Why do they shrink wrap anyway? My broody gets off her nest and her chicks usually hatch. I will wait until tomorrow but I fear I already messed up. I just went into lock-down and I am afraid I was late and thought that their humidity hasn't been up for long enough to help them. One egg has the tiniest pip and it's been that way all day.
If you open the bator do they always get shrink wrapped? My humidity is at 68-70% right now. I keep trying to drip water with a straw onto a wash cloth. I still have my plugs open and the temp is steady. I just get so crazy with worry when I have eggs hatching.

I talk to my eggs, I swear I imprint them chicks on me before they hatch. All of my chickens run straight to me if they see me outside.

Smart move. I have some in the coop under a broody and some in my office in a bator. Double the crazies for me.

Thanks to everyone for their support--- I will leave them to nature.
