Well, I have two of the chicks pipped and the other two are still moving around but haven't pipped yet. Lost two chickens the day before lock down but still have 8 out of 8 duck eggs in the bator doing fine. We moved the chicks to lock down in a different bator but had a mishap in the process. One of the eggs got cracked open over the air cell. I put tape over it and the chick is still moving around and has internally pipped but isn't doing much else. I hope we don't lose it.

Well I have some not so great news.... Having twin boys has come back to bite me in the butt yet again. Every single last egg that was in the bator, smashed or chilled dead. 10/3&10/10 sets both trashed
That's boys for you. Sorry to hear. This is when you have to brush it off and start all over again. Maybe let them help this time so they know how fragile the eggs are.

QUESTIONS???
1. the other chicks are picking shells off the pipped eggs normal?
2. how high can humidity get? its a going up
1) Yes normal. They will even pick the chicks that are hatching.
2) As long as condensation does not drip onto the eggs it's okay. Maybe time to unplug a hole?
