Setting Eggs Sept. 24th-Oct. 4th-Last Hatch of the Year. Anyone care to join me?

yes i have shown once so far...my splash girl won first
That is wonderful!!! How was it? Stressful, enjoyable, certainly rewarding with a first place? Did you do it by yourself or have help? How many days did it take you to prepare? Was it a good sized show? Being in Atlanta I would guess so. Sorry for so many questions. I hope I can show a couple of my CatDance babies this Spring which is why I ordered the eggs this fall. I try and contribute and ask questions in the Silkie thread but I am nearly totally ignored. I have only been to one chicken show and I think I caught the youth showmanship classes. I was telling Brookhavens, the kids stood by the pens their chickens were in, wearing white lab coats, and the judges came by looked at the wings and the chickens butt? I don't know what the butt looking was for, I guessed the wing was split wing or something like that. I used to show horses when I was younger, but this chicken showing is a lot different.

Yes it was stressful...rewarding? I'm not too sure...and yes...I feel the same way on the silkie thread...some nice people on there...mostly newbies but I find that the more experienced they are on there the ruder they can be and very dismissive at times.

I do this chicken thing by myself as I don't know anyone who has chickens so am learning as I go. I did take that orange frosted girl to the show also but entered her as AOV as that's what I was told I could do...well she was DQ'D because I didn't put a variety on the card...but I just didn't know I had to??? Like I said...am learning by myself here....lol

FurNFeathers....case in point...I just commented twice no the silkie thread about types of feed and my comments and questions were totally ignored...lol...either that or I get a two word snippy answer as if to say...shut up!

Yeah, that is what happens to me. I guess I'm just hijacking this thread with all these questions too. I just get kind of excited. It's not like we are new members. I just have not ever commented much because of that kind of thing (that and I am pretty shy). But I am not a 14 year old or anything, I have grown kids for crying out loud!

My last one was an answer to some alternative name suggestions for Porcelain, because the committees won't accept it as a name. China Doll, Creamsicle, and I can't remember a couple of the others. Self Blue/Cream is what I think has been officially used for the moment but isn't set in stone. I suggested Bisque which is another name for porcelain, I thought it was decent! Oh well!

I still go there because I like the pictures!
