8 hatched yesterdayat day 21, 3 left to go. i did have 17 but over the last week i had a few losses . Looking for advice on one of the chicks, some of its intestines are hanging out of its stomach any ideas on what to do with it?

Congrats on the ones that made it but i don't know what to do with the little chick with the intestines hang out though ;/

I just went and candled them. I have 5 left out of a dozen. A couple have air cells at both ends? One has a air cell kinda in the middle, plus one where it belongs...and two are totally dark except for the air cells...but no signs they are coming thru the air cell yet. So, maybe two might hatch? The ones with air cells at both ends are probably goners..right? you can see veins and stuff in them..but both ends of the end are clear.

I would leave them all in and see what happens. If you can still see veining then something is going on in there.

Hey how far away are you from the Trader Joes in Midtown?  We'll be there tomorrow early evening.  I want to see your babies

One is almost out...zipped all the way...and I have 4 more pips....this is my second generation of catdance silkies....and the very first babies I have hatched from my own girls....I can't wait to see what color my first chick is...

Cindy...that would be awesome for you to stop by if you can...I live not too far from Trader Joes...about a 10 min drive...

Congrats on your hatches. It depends on the size of the hernia. I had one where it was about the size of a nickle and the chick didn't make it. I have read on here that some people had chicks with small hernia's and they dried up and fell off. It's a wait and see but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Sorry for the bad news.

I didn't think I would get a splash as I didn't think the boy was doing his job....yay!

YEAH CHICKIES!!!! Congratulations!!! I am on Day 11 with my Catdance SIlkies. Tonight is candling night when I move them to their own incubator. They are in with my RIR eggs that go into lockdown tonight. I can't wait to see what colors I get from Karen's eggs. She sent such a great assortment.
