Cindy are you going to try your hand at showing, or do you do it already?

I want to and I haven't. I've only had chickens for 5 months. My first 4 were freebies and not SQ. That's why I got the eggs because I wanted to see if I could get a SQ chick. It would be fun to do shows and meet other peeps around the state. Right now I'm just enjoying those chicks and their fluffy selves. What about you...do you show?

I know...I have all night and all tomorrow to sit and watch...yay for Sunday!

Darrin ~ how exciting I bet you get some during the night. Are you sleeping next to them? I can't wait to see your very own silkies...such a proud moment for you. Congrats~!
Hey how far away are you from the Trader Joes in Midtown? We'll be there tomorrow early evening. I want to see your babies :)

I haven't shown chickens, but I want to. My other silkies are PQ, though I bought them from show breeders. I am hoping for the same thing. Karen has done all the hard work for us!

I am really impressed with these babies (and yours too) and hope I get a few more really nice ones from this hatch also. I really like the unusual colors even though they all aren't recognized. Do you have any surprise colors in yours? I have a couple that I really don't know what they are going to be yet.

I used to show my horses and it can't possible be as much work as that was.

The only one that I am unsure what it will end up looking like is the B/S chick. It has light gray and then dark so maybe a blue? The Porcelain and Lavender are close in color and hard to tell them apart unless you pick them both up and then you can see the Lavender. The Buff is really getting it's ginger coloring, the Black is well Black, haha, and the Partridge is just lovely! The B/S, the Black, and the Buff are all PQ because of their toes. The other three I'm hoping will be BQ or SQ. What about yours? Is this your second hatch of her eggs?

Yes, this will be my second batch of her eggs. I think mine all have decent feet. The lavender that I lost had too small of a toe on one foot. The darkest partridge has the shortest back I've ever seen and doesn't have any little tail feathers coming in like the others have. I am not sure what to think about that. maybe that will be one of those big poofy butts like her chickens are known to have. (wishful thinking)
