Setting Eggs Sept. 24th-Oct. 4th-Last Hatch of the Year. Anyone care to join me?

well since I talked to you my other sizzle has decided to be broody so she took your eggs you can take it up with her lol so 14 in incubator had to build (well my hubby) a broody pen for my 2 sizzles each with 4 eggs i think I'm gonna loose it! LOL

HaHa chicken math and more building each time!

When you see a lot of those "white spots" or speckled as you called them, it is called a porous egg. Do not feel too bad about pulling the egg most of the time these eggs start to develop and then quit during incubation.
Thank you for the encouragement! Even to us "ultra-newbies" it looked markedly different than the others. Kind of lonely looking at an empty space in the tray though. OMG, we are sooo hooked on chickens:O

why funny you should ask YES IT DID!!!!! omg I cant go anywhere been up and down steps over a million times. Went to waterloo no LO's but did get a buff silkie. me bad

Yeah from right off you get to go crazy with the temp and humidity. It should settled down .I did get that genesis so i wouldnt have to deal with the temp but once the Hovabator was in my closet with 14 eggs in there it was good on both too.

It doesn't take much to get addicted. I started with only wanting a few chickens for our family eggs. Hatched my first batch and chicken math took over. So instead of having to build one coop and run I am up to four. I keep finding new breeds that I really like/want and have finally started adding them to my wish list rather than ordering the eggs.

Wow lots of new people joining us...Cool!!! Still no eggs :( so he will be shipping them on Monday..so idk when i will get them. Maybe a good thing i thought my outlet was on a different circuit in our laundry room but nope!! i had a bad spike of temp when i turn on the washing machine. So i moved them in the computer room..so far so good. been stabilizing the temp.

I used a wooden cigar box (free from the cigar store in town), an extension cord and a light socket to make it. Lined the inside with aluminum foil for reflection. Total cost was around $4. The wooden piece in the second picture is an insert so I can candle smaller sized eggs. I watched a video on Youtube that showed me how to wire a lamp and I was good to go. I did use this type of bulb because it doesn't get as hot as a regular light bulb.

Thank you for sharing. Put it on my honey-do-list for DH

If he ships them on Monday by Priority mail then you should have them on Wednesday. Try to get the tracking number from him when he sends them.

Hello lovely people!

Candled the SBELs tonight - 11/16 growing . Two were infertile, 2 died early and 2 are questionable ( so I've left them in there till day 14)

Very exciting to see so many hatches. Day 18-21 is going to set this thread ON FIRE!!!!! :p
