Better tell DH if they are shipped you will get half or less hatch so he doesnt think you messed them up.
He can ask anyone on here.
A higher rate than that and its a HUGE WONDERFUL FLUKE!!

(HUMMM just found ihave no smilies either I can add..no icons .... What the ?)

Hubby said just don't screw it up? About you hatching eggs? If you do, that is a really good excuse to try again

Is there a way to sort through Buy,Sell, Trade for areas? I would prefer to buy locally, but not sure how to sort hatching eggs by area.
Will candle when i put in the incubator today and post an update.

*I have to agree about hatching another batch...lol.

*I don't know if you can sort the sections like that. I never tried so it might be possible.

*Sounds good.

day 7 went to candle eggs and well they are dark blue and couldnt see squat any recommendations using led flashlight mayb need a more powerful one? HELP I wanna know whats going on in there LOL

Get yourself 2 flashlights. Shine one at the bottom and one through the top. You'll need another set of hands though...lol. Or use a candler to set the egg on and you just shine the flashlight through the top.

Welcome welcome :)

Okay i have a ? for y'all.....Do any of you show your birds? And what kind of pedigree record keeping do you all do when it comes to breeding??

All of my birds are still too young to show. But if the Catdance silkies that I have in the bator now turn out to be SQ I just may do it. I keep written documentation of all my hatches and when it comes time for laying purposes I will keep detailed records of who is in with who. All breeds will be separate so there is no mistaking who the parent birds are.

I have been severely bitten by the chicken bug!!! It's quite catchy I hear... :D I have 11 (ordered 10 and got 1 bonus) Lavender Ameraucana eggs! They were shipped but all of the air cells are in place and no damage visible to any eggs. The box still looked bran new so I think they had pretty decent handling! They were all packaged very well, in tons of layers of bubble wrap too. So I will be adding them to the bator (Hova-bator, w/egg -turner) tonight sometime. Although I will not be actually turning on my turner for the first week or so!

I read through every post before mine and saw the convo about pointy eggs. I will have to mark my chick when it hatches, because of COURSE it will lol, that is out of my one, very pointed egg. The rest are all very oval, almost round.

And if I'm not allowed to join it is okay, because I am still going to read everything :D hehehe

Oh and I'm from Michigan and I am using the dry incubation method.

You are officially added to the 1st post...lol. This is going to be a GREAT Hatch-a-long. When all these babies start coming out in a few weeks we are going to blow up the board with this thread.

Right he was inthe COMMECIAL business who knows how big and expensive his bator was .It Probably did everything automatically but wipe the chicks butts. We all turn 3 to 5 times a day and most of us 3.Every 2 hours? you'd go crazy and why if 3 times does the trick? .Never heard of that here.

Well if hubby wants the eggs turned every 2 hours then tell him he has to do it

If he is like most men after a few times he will give up and tell you to do what you were doing...LOL. (I am not being mean here. Just trying to add a little humor into the situation.)

Oh I told him to expect maybe 6 to hatch...for some odd reason he thinks all 12 are going to hatch...such a goofy man.
