50% is still good for shipped eggs. We are gonna be hatching Serama's together!!!! I have 31 Serama eggs in the bator now with 12 more on the way!!!
We're going to have to start a new thread for the latest eggs.

Yaaaaaaayyy!!! After seeing those Serama's in real life I'm smitten, so if I don't have any success with mine I think I'll have to visit for a cup of tea and a couple of serama chicks from you

OK here's a couple of blurry photies!!! There are 5 EE mix (the darker ones) and 5 super blues (the white ones). It's funny coz the one standing up on somebody else's head (in the 2nd shot) was one of the last born - LOL

Ha ha ha - the joys of lockdown (no matter how many times you've done it - LOL)

1. I, personally, worry more about the humidity than temp during lockdown (unless you've been hassling with temp throughout). If your temps have been stable then you should be fine (even with the fluctuations) during hatch/lockdown. I don't like to go over 70% humidity (but I'm in Florida and I'm thinking the rules may be a little different for us 'Southerners'). I would def be removing wet cloths e.t.c if your humidity levels are going into the 80's
2. Yes temps will go up and down. Depending on whether you'r still air or forced air, those 'highest' temp levels will be different
3. Ummmmm 'yes' in a perfect world. I have had to help so many chicks in the past I don't think I've ever had a 'keep the lid on till all's hatched' scenario ...... ummmmmm, maybe that's why I'm down to 50% hatches

Thanks all..it's now 9am and the last time I slept was ... actually, I don't remember. I have been sick lately so I haven't been keeping track of sleep. I think you're probably right though. I did go back and look a few minutes ago - that egg is moving around a bit so I'm sure he/she is fine...going to try and get some rest.

Good luck on your hatches everyone, and please post pictures? My camera is broken so I can't...but I LOVE looking at everyone else's pictures of their new chicks. It's nice to wake up and come see new little lives!

Agree on all of this but want to add that I usually leave the chicks in there for at least 24( as long as no one is in trouble) before I take them out. The chirping they do seems to get the other chicks to come out of their shells faster.

Take some extra VIt. D & C to help your immune system if you have been sick. It's no fun feeling under the weather plus getting no sleep.
