Yeah, her sister looked almost exactly the same as her except that she had a poofier head. I was actually hoping to get one of their eggs in under this hen, but I don't think I was able to. Next time for sure!Hens like that are invaluable. She is beautiful. Does her sister look just like her?![]()
Hey everyone - it is getting near that time for my little eggies. I have a broody hen who has done a good job, it is her first time and my first time as well, she is a 6 month old Cochin. Need some advice - day 21 is Monday, I havnt moved her out of the coop yet, but am concerned for a few reasons. I would need to add food and water containers for the chicks and that would mean leaving them on the ground of a deep hay system coop floor. I may be able to bust the seperator down between my broodys nest box and the next one to make it big enough for these things. I have a mouse problem, im not sure how to get rid of them but as its cooled down ive started seeing them more and more, any easy pointers? I think the Con for removing them from the coop is that when I went to put them back they would probably get picked on... Any advice? what do people normally do, and what is this 'lockdown' i keep hearing about.
Thanks
