The second pip was only 4 hours?....dont know why it was shrinkwrapped already.Usually it takes 10 or 20 hours to get that bad
What is your humidity? 65 or higher?
Yellow stuff...hummm never saw that before.Have no idea.
When mine have hatched they might have a string sort of attached to the egg sometimes but other than that its all dry when they hatch .No goo.

Nope, I cracked it last night.. rotting. Pretty much what i expected. One that hatched was what i would consider undersized as well.

okay i just checked my eggs....cazy chicken lady was doing the fake chirping noise and saw one move and heard a chip back....that's whats going on so far...had a nice funeral for our speckles..going to lows to buy a nice flat stone and some bulbs to plant around.

Wait... I thought the humidity could go up once they started hatching to whatever?!?!?!?!? I was told as long as it wasn't dripping...

Yes the humidity will rise up but that is when they are hatching. The moisture from the chick and egg makes it go up. I will raise it a little bit when they start to pip to keep the membrane moist but you have to be careful not to raise it too much because the unpipped eggs may get too much moisture and drown.

My second chick is dead. I waited and now I'm kicking myself for it. It was completely glued in the egg. I couldn't even pull some of the egg pieces off of it. It was rock hard... like amber

The first chick is doing well but looks like it's covered in glue as well. Now I'm wondering if the remaining eggs will have this same issue. I don't want to make the same mistake and wait too long to help again but I don't want to rush either. Has anyone ever dealt with this glue/amber stuff in their eggs/chicks? When is the best time to step in? When they internally pip? Externally? Start zipping and stop? I am kicking myself over waiting so long for this second chick. I stepped in once I didn't hear it chirping anymore... but it was too late. Oh I can't believe I didn't do the right thing. Poor baby died because of me waiting...

Stepping in is a tough decision to make. Every situation is different. It sounds like you are having humidity issues with the stickiness/glue. Here is a great thread on Sticky Chicks
