I candled too, yeah I saw nothing interesting...I dont think anyways! lol Some had darker spots in the egg some had veins, nothing that would make me think something was going on yet...we shall see. My first hatch as well so who knows! Im hoping for a good hatch being everything else in the house is Fertile as heck, fish, plants, snails...come on eggies!

Wal-Mart eggs were tossed tonight. Nothing going on when candled. Broke them open to double-check, and it was a big negative on any development. So, Wal-Mart's Sunny Farms "Farm Fresh" eggs aren't fertile, or at least my 5 eggs weren't. I'm picking up a new incubator tomorrow, and I think I'll go to a few stores and get the organic and free-range type eggs to set and see what happens.

I went ahead and tossed another egg that wasn't developing. It was one of my shipped eggs that had been cracked pretty bad which I tried to wax and save, but I thought still had the membrane intact since it didn't leak any. It didn't have any development so far at all when I opened it, either.

The rest looked spot on still, except for the same few that were iffy a couple days ago.

I'm excited to have hatching buddies this time. I was lonely last time on my first attempt!

Im hand turning as well, the model I got is octagon shaped, they dont make a turner for it. But I don't mind hand turning, and is seams to be working great, Im waiting to atleast day 10 to candle, because I never did it before.

I tired to see if I could see anything when I candled but I have no stinking idea what im looking for!
even after looking at dozens of pics Im just as clueless as I was before

Question for mburpo
are you getting eggs that say they are fertile or just hoping to get some fertile eggs?
I know I have seen stores like trader joes sell "fertile eggs"

Seems I have a little helper...Some one was watching mommie candle eggs the other night and must have been taking notes!
BC When I went back to check on my eggs the next day, one egg was moved over a spot...and UPSIDE DOWN!

Figured it was my little guy Breyen. Hes almost 2 and is basically my shadow unless his big brother is around. I know it wasnt the big kids BC they know better and they would have at least put the egg back in the right spot

So I had an egg upside down for about 6 hours...thoughts?
