Setting eggs today (1/9) hatch buddy?!

felt some vibrating last night! Today should be the day....

Haven't seen or heard anything but just discovered a couple of eggs have pipped. Super excited here!

First pic are the nine that hatched the 24 th . Four are shipped blue Marans eggs the other five were from my eggs ( blue Marans / LF Cochins . Second pic is while they were still hatching , only nine out of 23 eggs hatched .
Todays (28th) hatch ( last pic ) is hatching right now , so far three have hatched . Part are shipped Marans and again my own eggs of Marans and Cochins . I will never put them in the same incubator , totally misunderstood what a staggered hatch was .

I put both the 24th and the 28th hatches in the same incubator ( like three days apart ) so had to bring up the humidity early for the first hatch , opened the door a few times , etc . Learned I should use two different incubators . This was only the second time I have hatched chicks so it was a learning experience , quite stressful to say the least !

I see, understandable that it would be stressful, but you've got (and are getting) some real cute fluffy butts! Congratulations!!!!!


I've been struggling with the idea of buying a second incubator to use as a hatcher, but that would just increase my flock size astronomically!!!!!!!!!

A hatcher ! That is a better idea than me using two incubators Thanks

Of 13 eggs, I had 10 hatch today!
Chick number 11 hatched this evening but his yolk is not completely absorbed (about the size of a kidney bean). What are his chances of survival? I moved the others to the brooder so they would stop pecking at the yolk. Is there anything else I should do for him?

I have two un-hatched eggs that I'll leave in for another day or two, just in case. The candled well before lockdown so there might still be a chance for them....

I've got 2 out of 9 that have hatched. Hoping the other 7 will pop out soon.

nothing... none of the 5 have hatched as of last night. BUT I understand a broody hatch can take up to 23 days... so crossing fingers still. I am going to go and have a look-see in few minutes...
