Setting eggs today 4/1/12 Anyone else?

I started lockdown this morning! I'm hoping for all 12 to hatch since the candling went so well the other day! Sorry to hear about the loss of early chick! Sounds like he/she was beautiful! I hope everyone's hatch goes great the rest of the way! Let's all keep our fingers crossed as we sweat through lockdown! Good luck everyone!!

Sigh, again..... I have another early hatcher:( I am not sure exactly what I did wrong this time:(

Just put mine into lock down! Hope it works. They were all full and several were moving around. There was one that was full, but up around the air pocket it still looked a bit watery, does that mean something is wrong?

Good luck everyone!

Day 20 and as of 7am this morning we have our first pip! Now the waiting and worrying begins.

emtdiv, I wouldn't worry too much about the one egg. You were probably just able to see the little watery bit because of how the chick was positioned in the shell.

We had our first pip this morning around 8, and when I came home at lunch, she started zipping and by 12:30, we had our first chick....woohoo! Kids are still at school, so they don't even know yet, but hopefully we will be watching some more hatch tonight and tomorrow. It is day 20 for us!

Congrats to you guys!

I have one lone egg left. I went to work with 2 eggs and one just hatched baby, and had 1 hatch out while I was at work, one made it out, still had part of a sac, and died, the other had no sac left but appeared to have either drowned or sufficated its self inside of it's egg. The last lone egg, from my EE is pipped. Today would be day 20 for us too as we set early on Sunday 4/1. I am hoping when it hatches out its sac is completely absorbed. I am so frustrated right now:(

Aw, Missy, I'm sorry your hatch doesn't seem to be going well. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your last egg.

I just went to check, and the first egg to pip has started to zip. I was a bit worried because my humidity is down to 58% and the membrane was starting to look a bit dryish, and the pip is towards the middle of the egg but more towards the small end (why is it that the first egg to pip for me always (2/2 times now anyway) seems to pip at the wrong end?). Now that there is more movement and I can clearly see the beak move when I tap on the top of the incubator I feel better. And a second egg has pipped now too!

I just went to peer through the glass at my egg and low and behold, another dead chick. I am so confused as to why the early hatch. I monitor temp constantly and have never found it above 100 degrees or below 99.5 degrees. Humidity was just right, they are just under developed. Meaning, full develped chick with a quarter size round yolk sac still attached.

Could it be the rooster? I have 1 week left on my next clutch. I am hoping for better results. Now that I am no longer in lock down, I am going to candle my 4/8/2012 eggs and see who is developing. Hopefully I will have better results.

Sorry about all your losses Missy. That is terrible about all the chicks. I hope your next hatch is better! Don't get discouraged. I always find that when lockdown begins I start having trouble with the temperature dropping a little. I noticed earlier that it was at 97 degrees. I don't know if this will affect my chicks hatching. I'm surprised to see that so many people have chicks hatched or hatching already! I set my eggs on 4/1/12 but I'm not expecting them to hatch until Monday. I hope I'm counting it off right! I haven't seen any indication that my eggs are doing anything yet. I usually don't expect chicks until the day of lockdown or even the day after. I don't think I've ever had an early chick. Day 21 is the toughest for me because I'm just waiting. I look in the incubator every 10 minutes it seems. Keep me updated on your hatches and post pictures! I'm hoping to be able to post pictures of some new chicks Sunday or Monday! Happy hatching everyone!
