Setting eggs today 4/1/12 Anyone else?

My Mamasita has 5 under her that should be hatching just about now too! If any of these make it out I will try the same. Last year she went broody about the same time another one did and they fought over the eggs. They would both sit in the box at the same time. When the chicks hatched the fight really blew up, especially when the chicks started moving around and exploring. After about three days Mamasita won out and took over full care of them. The other one was right there if one should split from the crowed and protected it. It was too funny to watch.

We have our first chick! Makes me feel better!

Congrats! I snuck the egg that's been zipped since yesterday out of the incubator to get a closer look at it in the steamy bathroom. Poor little thing was partially shrink-wrapped! That was why it hadn't progressed any. I finished the zip for it and put it back in the bator on a damp paper towel, so now it's up to the chick to finish hatching. But now I'm really loosing hope for the remaining 4 eggs. After this chick finishes hatching, I think I'll pull them out and pip a hole in the air cell and see if any of them are still alive and see what I can do to help them if need be.

AinaWGSD, I hope the rest of your chicks hatch out okay! I went to the grocery store and when I got back two chicks have hatched! They seem to hatch out better and faster when I'm not looking! I took a picture but its not a great one. The viewing glass on the incubator is all steamed up and the temp/humidity reader is in the way!

I'm up to 6 six chicks now and more on the way! I'm so happy! They are so noisy though! There is a lot of chirping going on in the incubator! I'll post pictures when they dry off a bit! I still have a few eggs that haven't pipped yet but these guys weren't even due to hatch until tomorrow!!!

I am at 5 almost 6 chicks!!!! Do the hatched chicks get to warm in the incubator? Everytime I look in one little baby comes running and peeping and looking at me like save me!!! I can see how this will/can be addictive!!!!

I am up to 6 now but #6 seems a bit weak, will have to keep an eye on her. Still have 6 eggs in there that haven't even pipped yet, but like Gwendalynn, they weren't even due until tomorrow or Tuesday.

One of my Ameracuanas didn't seem like it was going to make it, the way it was flopping all over for about a day. It is a bit splay legged (just barely noticeable) but alive! My last MF bantam Cochin was shrink wrapped. I just finished helping it out. It's trying to get it's feet under it's self now. My others were in the incubator for over a day and they were all going nuts! They went straight to the water when they finally got to the brooder!

So, it looks like my hatch is done. None hatched under my broody, but I will let her have them for another day, just in case.

Whew! Just spent the past 40 minutes helping the fifth chick hatch! Poor little thing was totally shrink-wrapped. It's little chin was stuck to it's chest and one wing was stuck to the leg on that side, there's no way it would have been able to hatch on it's own. I wish I had known that sooner, I wouldn't have let it set in the incubator all afternoon waiting for it to hatch on it's own!
