Setting eggs today 4/1/12 Anyone else?

good luck! I am not sure when lockdown is for me. I put my eggs in the bator at 10 AM on the 1st. Anyone who could give me the answer would be my hero!

We have eggs rocking! I was going to continue to turn the eggs today and go into lockdown tonight, but when I went to turn eggs this morning I saw one rocking. It happened just as I was taking the lid off the incubator, so I thought, "well, maybe I somehow did that." After turning the eggs though, two more rocked just a little! I wasn't touching anything, so clearly it was them and not me. So, break out the shelf liner, add the water and sponges, and turned them back over to the side they had been lying in and now I have to try not to touch them until they hatch. My first hatch I pulled chicks out as they dried off, but this time around there's only 9 eggs so I think I will leave them until everyone hatches. right now I only have the one heat lamp, so if I can sit on my hands long enough for everyone to hatch and fluff out I'm hoping I can just slip them in with the other babies that are only about a week old.

Missymac, if you set on the first, tomorrow would be day 18 for you. So you should be going into lockdown tomorrow morning. Although some people go into lock down on day 19 (that was my plan for this hatch anyway) and some people loose track of the days and go into lockdown a day or two early and still get just as good a hatch as if they did it on day 18.

Lol, I only have 4 eggs left, I thought I had 5 but must have miss counted somewhere. So tommorrow morning it is then. Hoping for the best.

Good luck to everyone oer the next few days!

Another question, my 4 remaining eggs are really rocking, What now? Just leave them be?

These last couple days of waiting are going to kill me! I havent candled since day 10, but I think I am going to check them all tonight. On Saturday someone (I think the 2yo) got their hands on the bator and turned the temp down. It only went down to 82 degrees and didn't stay down for very long. My bred doe decided to go into labor Sat afternoon so it took me all day running from house to barn trying to get the temp stabalized, had a few high spikes. Got them to 100 and have been leaving them alone since. Did candle just one on Monday after my curiosity overwhelmed me! Good luck to everyone the next few days!

My little giant has those egg holders in it ...I don't think I will be able to see rocking eggs. :-(

SO CLOSE TO BABIES!!!!!!!!!!! I had lots of eggs developing yesterday--oh so excited!!!

Cant wait to see everyone's pictures!

I've been very good at resisting candling. I want to wait until tomorrow night to candle because lock down begins Friday!!!!!

I do think I may just go ahead and do it tonight because I am so excited about my hatch this coming up Monday! I really hope I get a good hatch! I have three BLRW's that will be one week old on old this Friday! They are so cute! I'm looking to build up my flock of BLRW's. I need more hens! I only have 2 hens and 2 roosters right now! I know the boys would love to have some more ladies! I'll candle tonight and try to take some good pictures and post them on here so you all can tell me what you think! At last candling (which was day 10) all of the eggs were fertilized and looked to be growing well!

These are the babies I hatched out last week! Very friendly, sweet, and curious!

I candled my eggs! I did it super fast though because I was afraid of shrink wrapping the babies! I woke up this morning and the humidity in the incubator had dropped down to 29%!!! I quickly fixed the problem but do you think this will cause the chicks problems when they hatch? Lockdown begins Friday and the humidity messed up this close to lockdown! We had the windows open most of the night last night and it actually got pretty cool so I think the humidity dropped in the outside air. The humidity has been staying around 40-50% with the windows open so I haven't really had to add water at all. Just a tiny bit here and there. The candling went very well! All12 eggs are full of baby chicks and I even saw one moving around a little! The eggs are so full though, I'm sure they can barely move at this point! I'm so excited and I'm hoping this is my best hatch ever!! The most chicks I've ever hatched at one time was 7! I'm hoping to beat that this coming up Monday!! You'd think hatching chicks would get old, but its like Christmas every 21 days!
