I have a turner also but have heard the same thing. Leaving them alone the first day helps everything stablize. I would start turning them on the morning of day 2.

Well I'm new to all this too. I set mine last night about 11:30, dummy me this morning I already turned them. I have very little knowledge about using an incubator. It seems overwhelming, as I have used my broody silky before. Trouble is this time she can;t make her mind up if she wants to sit, so I had to borrow a friends incubator as I had purchased BLCM eggsand had to do something. I've been reading a lot,but still I went and turned them. Now what? Keep turning or let them resta day?

thanks!
i put them in and turned them anyways. i couldnt find anyone saying they didnt turn them for the first day. i did let them set a day after they arrived, i thought well maybe thats what the directions ment. i just didnt turn them a million times, only 3. today i am turning them regular tho. something i think is silly too... if you need to know the humidity then why on earth isnt a hygrometer included? i mean it is as important as temp right? seems like an essentail peice that should be included. i picked mine up from walmart for $7. good luck everyone... i cant wait till this week is over and i can candle

had a golden laced wyandott go broody about 20 something days ago, this is her and our first hatch, so we shall see what comes of it. So eggciting to think we will have some fuzzy butts running around soon.
If not, i hope she will try again for us.
Just glad it has been unusually cool here, for her to set. Just hope it warms up so we can finally use the pool!

Hi! I set eggs yesterday so I am right there with you! Tried earlier this year, huge failure. Trying again... here's hoping!

I candled some of the eggs that had been in there since the 17th. Looks like there are 29 developing. Two were definately clear. As usual I can't see through the green eggs - but so far I have had only two or three develop in the past and that was when she liked my rooster. Now she hates both of them.

Two days ago though she laid an egg and it got cracked by another hen - so I opened it up and that one was fertile.

So - I put her egg from yesterday in the bator. And I didn't want that egg to be lonely so I added another brown egg from my maran and a silkie egg.

If I could get just a couple chicks from my EE I would be happy. I only have one off-spring from her and would LOVE some olive eggers from her mating with my BCM.
