I should say I don't own a digital hygrometer......what do you have on yours?....btw 50% is plenty high for the first 18 daysi think mine was modified along the way....and yes, mine has the bucket on top going into the container with the float.
I will confess i do not own a hygrometer. Mine has two thermostats. One (on the side closest to the door) reads the air temp, i keep this at 99.5
the second is connected to a cloth sleeve near the water container, first 18 days I run it between 82 & 86, during lockdown between 88 & 90.
I am doing my first staggered hatch right now, so i am going to purchase a hygrometer tomorrow actually, as I will need to really keep an eye on it.
I have had great success, my only complaint with mine is that there is not enough hatch room on the bottom for the amount of eggs it can incubate.
I had 7 dozen eggs layed on me (pardon the pun) by a supplier who I had purchased 4 dozen from and some of them had been a bit too old. She was very generous, but I dont have the space for all the lil fuzzbuttz to hatch. I have created a fencing system for one of the incubation trays. I will have chicks hatching on two levels. lol
I have about 36 due to hatch in 11 days and another 78 due to hatch a week later.![]()
I am jsut down the road from you, outside Chatham!Outside of London
My incubator is now at 54%, i think it just took a couple of days to get the moisture in there. I am going to keep it at around that, maybe a little lower.
Yay Ontario-ans ahah..I am jsut down the road from you, outside Chatham!
Yeah, I am trying to get mine down a tad, running at about 56% right now. But I have both vernts open![]()
i have some wellsummers and americaunas too, in the second have of my staggered hatch. They should be another 2 weeks.
When are yours due?
