Hi guys, six days to go !!! its exciting hope you post some photo's
what will you do with the cockerels

Hey put mine in lockdown this morning. Mine should be hatching tomorrow or Monday. I'll post some pics when I get some out.

I'll prob. keep all my cockerels until I can tell for sure that they are not pullets. Since this is my first go around with black copper marans, I have no idea how to tell boys from girls until they start to develope their combs. Any of you ever have black copper marans? Is their any way to tell boys from girls when they are young? I can sell the extra cockerels at a local livestock sale. They have it every week here. Its really a cattle sale barn but in the parking lot they have other livestock (chickens,ducks, etc.)

I can hear cheeping inside the eggs lastnight and this morning. No pips yet. I will be going home on my lunch break to check their progress.

Update: Came home from work and i've got one chick out. Dont want to open the bator to see if any more are piped. Maybe i'll check later tonight to see if there are some more. So glad I have got the 1st one out. I'm always so uneasy until that 1st one hatches. Just tells me that I did things right.

Ok still only one out but I checked the rest and looks like 3 more pipped. Woot!

super !! i hope you have them all by now mine should pip tomorrow we do like to think
we have done everything right and all the chicks are healthy , my last hatch of polish bantams
had little slayed toes , i had to put pipe cleaners on to make them strait it worked
these ones are silkie showgirls a cross between a silkie and a turken.

Got one more out this morning. (two so far) still two more pipped. I think my temps might have been a little low in my bator. It's a still air type and I have the forced air fan, just haven't installed it yet. Might help keep the temps more even throughout the incubator. Good luck everyone!

Ok i've got 8 out this morning and 3 eggs left in the bator. I'm 99% sure one of the eggs left has died maybe a few weeks ago. It did have some darker areas inside the eggs (this the reason I didnt remove it yet). But they are maran eggs so who they heck can really tell anyway? Lol! Here's a link that has some pics of mine lastnight when I had only 6 out. My computer was running slow loading the pics so I didnt have time to post pics on this thread also.
