setting eggs tomorrow.... 3-21-12 who wants to join?

I have one chick (comet), and about 7 or 8 pips. Hopefully we'll have more chicks in the am. Today is day 20 (I think) so hopefully the next 24 - 48 hrs (I have 10 or so +1 day eggs in there) will yield a bunch more! Fingers crossed~!

Little trick I just tried... I put paper towel down on my wire rack, and sprayed it down a little. As the condensation from the top of the incubator drips down it re-moistens the paper towel and has my humidity running at 82%, up from 72%. For whatever thats worth... Good Luck!

I am so jealous! I set my eggs on the 22nd and there is nothing doing in my incubator right now.

Just when I thought I was doing so good keeping myself occupied with leaf raking, pasture harrowing, goose house building, I stopped by the feed store to buy hinges.

Yup, now my eggs are all still tucked away in the incubator and I have three chicks in the brooder.

Well, in my defense they were free.

I may have stood and looked a little too long at the bin where the (obviously) culled chicks were, thinking,
"hmmm, I bet they would be ok. . ."

It is such a shame to have an empty brooder.
This should keep me from exploding until the eggs hatch.

It is such a shame to have an empty brooder. Which is why I didn't bother setting mine up until we had the first pip. I'm ready for bed, and after checking on them one last time I think I can finally go to sleep relatively worry free. About an hour and a half after I posted about the two eggs that were concerning me I went back in to find that the one that had pipped first, and hadn't really made any progress all day, had hatched and was running around the incubator. And about a half hour ago, the one that has been zipped all day finally managed to kick free of the shell. S/he had her head stuck in the shell for quite a while while we were in there playing with the chicks already in the brooder. That leaves me with 5 unhatched eggs out of 18 at the end of day 20. And 3 of those have pips!

YIPPEE! This morning I have 6 chicks and several others almost there. The Dels were first and then some of the NH are popping. The Marans have started to pip, I know I have 3 piped so far. I wish I could send pic. I am afraid the photo thingy I used has changed and I have not learned how to download there anymore. I will have to learn a new way. Gloria jean

Rychicken and dirtcreature, I have had the humidity at 70% and they have had no problem with hatching. Just a thought. Gloria Jean

Congrats to everyone and their new babies. :weee

When I woke up this morning 1 chick had hatched and another one was breaking out. I am so happy. I'm not a failure at incubating after all. I'm excited to see what the other 23 Maran eggs will be doing while I"m here at work today.

still nothing doing in mine.
I am starting to feel worried.
